I’ve had my cameras for years. Suddenly without any change by me, events aren’t recording.

You have to subscribe to cam plus lite, cam plus, or cam plus pro to get videos. The free service is only thumbnails now. Wyze sent out an email notifying users of this change and they did a name your price option for cam plus lite.

So i am very irritated that i bought all these cameras and you took away the event clip recording… what is safe about that?? So much for

How is getting free cloud recording and person detection a rip off? Just opt into cam plus light. The only thing that changed is they made it opt-in instead of opt-out.

No, it’s still free, if you want it to be. You can set a price of 0.

Where? When i try to pull it up it asks for a subscription
account>services> scroll all the way to the right and select “cam plus light” there should be an option to “name your price”, just select $0.

They intentionally obscure and guilt and upsell, but you can select $0 and get back free 12 second cloud clips and additional person detection.
So CamPlus Lite with 12 second videos is also a “free service” under those circumstances.

Also, the cams can record to SD (events or continuous for all but the wireless outdoor cams; event for the wireless outdoor cams). So, the only thing you’re ‘losing’ is the cloud recording, which costs Wyze money.
And like has been mentioned, they’re still offering it at name your price, so you can still have it for free, but that offer is for a limited time.

Not sure but I don’t think this is true? The “deadline” was only to avoid missing any event recordings. As far as I understand they intend to keep making Lite “name your price” for the foreseeable future?

The problem is that when I bought the cameras, this was an included feature which influenced the purchasing decision. If it was advertised as a feature that may become pay in the future, I probably would have gotten a different camera.

That’s not the only thing that changed. Without intervention, your cameras will not record events. Now you need to sign up for something. “Name your price” is a joke - who would pay if they can set the price to 0?
They will still record events or continuous record to the Sd card without intervention if you previously had that set up.

Yes, I saw that worked when I was trying to figure out why the 12 second clip no longer worked. Not sure why the camera can’t store event clips to the SD card and play those back instead of depending on a cloud service.
It can and it does. Although it does not display in event table format unless you rely on the cloud generated clips/ thumbnails to point there. (The events are in the timeline if you have motion recording.)
Sign up for Cam Plus Lite if you don’t want the screenshots. It’s free. You’re getting person detection for free now, if you choose to pay $0 (which you have that option).
