Eufy Cameras

Wyze can fend off competition if the Owners
allow

  1. Durect LAN access (without calling Wyze everytime trying to see your own SD clips). It is currently written to hoops and loops for user.
  2. better RTSP
  3. the 1min recording in event should be selectable 1,3,10,15 min etc
  4. separate health products from home products in different apps.
  5. better firmware and app testing.
  6. Timely Support Ticket Resolution
  7. (added) Notifcation in timely. and not intermittenly.

can You access your sd card recording without WAN (internet) from Eufy app?

I read one comment posted indicating it is similar to Wyze.

I have blocked internet access with Linksys parental controls and can access the camera via wifi only. To be more certain that the parental blocking function works well, I should unplug the internet cable. I can’t do it at the moment. My wife is listening to tv lol.

@rbruceporter , have tou already tried it?

Edit: If I shut down completely the application, when I open it again, it tells that the cam is offline for 1-2 seconds and it gives access to live viewing right after. If I quit the appli and come back, no message.

Edit2: Yes, it is working for sure. I have disabled my phone wifi and I cannot access the cam. The parental blocking is working. That tell me the cam is not connected to internet.

To resume, the camera does not need to be connected to the internet to be able to access it if we are on the same wifi. SD card included.(continuos and events recording).

I suppose the closest phrase would be “once bitten, twice shy”, which always struck me as kind of stupid, honestly. I like yours much better.

did U turn off data on your phone?

Data on or off, it doesn’t change anything. Cannot access the cam if it is blocked from internet. The only way to access it is on wifi. I don’t know if I answered your question correctly🤔

La seule façon d’accéder à la caméra est par le même réseau wifi. Si je désactive le wifi, je ne peux pas y accéder par le réseau cellulaire.

Yes, we use that one also: « Mordu une fois, timide deux fois. »:stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Some recent firmware updates have made it possible to use Eufy Indoor cameras without internet. Have not tried the battery or Homebase linked cams yet.

Thx gyzmo, you did.
if it works that I can access camera with internet. then it is my Wanted Camera. just Like Rbruceporter, my Wyze will be in a bin.

With no cloud recording, if the Eufycam is damaged or stolen, you’re out of luck if the microSD card is gone or damaged unless you enable some sort of remote storage like a NAS, Homekit or Eufy Cloud. If you use any other remote storage options than Eufy cloud, which you must pay for, you’re losing features of the camera.

I bought 3 indoor 2k (I only received 2) and 2 indoor 2k pt and I’ve found person detection iffy on them all, even with the newer FW updates, although I will say the newest FW seems to be solid so far. On several occasions, the one I put at the front of my home near my front porch misses people coming into and going out of my porch door and by that I mean,it not only misses that there’s a person, it misses that there was motion entirely, even at the highest setting. My wyze is beside the eufy cam and catches everything. The indoor pt which I use to track my living room, regularly “catches” dishes in the sink as pet and people - this isn’t such a huge deal because I have it set to 24/7 recording anyway.

I got the Eufycams because of the pre-order deal and the fact that I was not sure if Wyze cameras would be able to keep person detection, which I really want. The Eufycams have it “built in” vs. cloud based, but for some reason, this is not available once using Homekit or a NAS and where I could forego the person detection for Homekit until iOS 14, I definitely won’t forego the 2k resolution, which was also one of the reasons I got the cameras.

So, while I really am loving some of the advantages over the Wyze which you’ve mentioned and in addition to that, 2k and homekit integration, etc. (also, pt is much quieter than pan), there are some setbacks that keep the Wyze cameras useful for me, which are the 12s recordings and accuracy, so far.

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other I guess.

I think you meant “without internet”. You don’t need internet(wan) to access the cam from your home.

The speaker and the mic is better than the Wyze(v2 or pan). No background noise or saccading sound in Eufy. I rarely use the audio with my Wyze because of that. For the motion detection, I settled it to person and pet. Sometimes during the night, it misses a pet (yorkshires) during the night but the cam follows him. It is probably be detected as a motion? I put this pan cam at around 2 feet from the group for testing. The instructions says to put it at around 3.5 feet for pet detection. For person, it is very accurate in my living room.

Thanks for your review. :slightly_smiling_face:

They are in a drawer :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:. My 11 Wyzes are still working great. For how many times? That’s the point :slightly_smiling_face:

One important Q.
You have WAN now connected.
Can you view 2K (sd card or live stream0 from other locations (like your friends place)0?

If I use LTE (cell data) for sure…from everywhere… The cam is plugged to internet (wan).

Do you have something in mind that I don’t understand?

Edit: ok, I cannot tell the resolution if I’m out or in home but it is the same K/s on wifi or LTE. We have 3 settings about that. I have choosen the highest.

Finally found a way to know the resolution.

The resolution are the same: wifi or LTE

The above is confusing to me. It applies to ANY camera does it not? If you are recording ONLY to SD card and the card is damaged or the card or camera or both is stolen then you lose any video. This is true for Eufy, Wyze, Argo, or any IoT camera.

Eufy like Wyze offers cloud recording, it also offers RTSP and NAS without a separate firmware. And Wyze does not offer NAS natively at all. Eufy supports HomeKit Secure Video which Wyze does not.

So in other words I don’t understand what you are saying Eufy lacks in comparison to Wyze? 12 second event videos with a 5 minute cool down? That is the only feature Wyze offers that I can think of that Eufy does not. And Eufy offers a better option for free, in fact two, the NAS option and HKSV.

Technically HKSV is not free but Eufy does not charge for it in anyway.

very good resolution.
btw, how is the App ? easy to use? No loading errors?
Notifications is quick or just intermittent?

What would the Eufy forum users say?

Noteto Wyze: what are waiting for?

1)How is the App ? easy to use? No loading errors?
Notifications is quick or just intermittent?

The application is very easy to understand. Didn’t have unexpected shutdown as the wyze. Never had a loading error. The notifications are instant.

  1. What would the Eufy forum users say?

I haven’t been there yet. If I have any problems, I will go. Until now, all is well. I am not using Homekit at the moment as it has just been incorporated into the camera and not all functions are supported. Also, I have an old iPhone 6+(iOS 12). I plan to change it for the new one in November. I have an iPad mini 5 (iOS 13) and will be updated soon to iOS 14. I have to say my wife took it on lol. I rarely get the chance to use it. All this to say that even if several functions are added to Homekit, I will not be able to use them for the moment with my phone.

3)Wyze: what are waiting for?

All my wyzes cams are working properly. Very satisfied of them. What would I like? Let notifications be as quick as Eufy but I don’t think that’s possible. That the playback be similar to Eufy, that is to say that the events are included and marked in a different color. The playback speed (up to 16x) is a good feature. On the other hand, if we go to the Eufy events, there is no option like wyze, to go directly to the playback at the position of the event. No playback issues in Eufy. I must say, since the last Wyze update, I don’t have any playback jams that made the cams to reboot. When I watch events in Wyze, the application is shutting down after ±10 events.

Many of events on Wyze are in slow or fast motions. It happens sometimes in live viewing. I don’t know why. It is on different cams randomly.

The sirene in Eufy is a good feature. Wyze should add it. There is a security tab in the Eufy application. I did’nt play with it. The baby crying sound detection could be a nice feature but the sound detection in Wyze could do the job, I think. I don’t plan to use this baby sound feature because I passed this step for a long time😉 There is no alarm and co2 sound detection feature in Eufy. Wyze have that feature and all my cams are settled eith this feature. When one of my oem smoke or CO2 detectors alert, I received a notification from Wyze. Smoke alarm detected or CO2 alarm detected. Nice Wyze features.

Since 3 days with my first Eufy2K, I didn’t have any application shutdown. Watched many events, fluid playback and live viewing.

Very happy with my new Eufy. Enough to change all (11) my Wyze cams? Not for now since they are working well.

If Eufy released an outdoor camera like 2K, not a battery camera like Wyze, I would buy 4 now. For Wyze’s, after reading so much negative stuff on the forum and elsewhere, I’ll skip my turn, at least for now. If Wyze release a wired for the outdoors, like the V2 but with a pir sensor like the outdoor but improving, I buy 4.

It’s time to Wyze to think of a V3 to replace the V2. The AI will be done in the cam as Eufy without having to go through the cloud. The results: instant notifications.

A new AI function will arrive soon in Eufy2K. The humain face detection. It will tell you who is being detected. Not so bad for a $45.00 canadian (in special) camera. At that price, it is pretty similar to the Wyze in Canada. The Pan is at the same price as the Wyze for now. I hope they will stay at that price.

Eufy cams are listed as security cameras. It is written on the box and the application is named « Eufy Security ». The Wyze stuffs don’t. I think they are afraid to classify them because of the reliability. It’s not funny when you have to go in the playback and there is nothing even if your cams are settled to record 24/24. It happens sometimes. I have to restart and they are on the road again.
