Are there any plans to be able to program the light switch in the App to automatically turn on lights at dusk and off at dawn?
You should be able to do that with a Switch local schedule. Go to Wyze app > your Switch > Settings (gear icon) > Schedules. You can also do the same by creating an Automation, but automations require Internet service to execute. Local schedules can run during Internet outage, but obviously need power to the Switch.
I see how to set a time for on and off. But not a way for the App to track the change in sunset and sunrise throughout the year and automatically adjust the on-off time accordingly. And to account for daylight savings time.
I was surprised to see that my Wyze v2 bulbs asked me for my location when I requested to turn on light at sundown. If you find it is not there in any form, submit a request.
I don’t know about the Switch specifically, because I don’t have those, but if I try to set up a Schedule Automation for a Plug Outdoor, I see options for “Sunrise” and “Sunset”:
- From the Wyze app’s Home screen, tap
âžś Automation.
- On the Create Automation screen, tap Schedule.
- In the DO section, tap Add Action and select your Switch.
- On the next screen, tap Turn on, then Save.
- Back on the Create Automation screen, in the WHEN section, tap Start Time.
- This is where you see Sunrise and Sunset as options. If you tap one of those but haven’t already set your location, then the app should prompt you to do so. Once you’ve done that, you should be able to complete the Automation setup as desired.
While I don’t have any Wyze Switches, I do have smart switches from another manufacturer (Wyze Switch hadn’t even been announced when I bought those), and I’m using one of those to control exterior lights via a Google Home Household Automation that knows my location and takes into account my desired sunrise and sunset offset times. It works really well.
Thanks. I’ll try it.
When you specify Sunset or Sunrise for “Turn on at” and/or “Turn off at” in Local Schedules, sunset and sunrise (and DST) is automatically determined each day based on your specific location. That also applies to any Wyze app trigger where you specify sunset/sunrise as the time varies each day.
