Duo Cam Doorbell SD card issue

These aren’t fake unless Costco is carrying fake cards now. But I’ll run them through the util. I’ll also try the Samsung Endurance brand to see if it works. Thanks for the info.

Instead of using SanDisk Ultra, you are probably better off with trying SanDisk High Endurance cards due them constantly being overwritten.

That being said, ever since I switched over to a Wyze 256GB microSD card, I haven’t had any issues on the Duo Doorbell, so you might have to try their brand.

Thank you both for your advise. I will look into the Samsung and SanDisk Endurance cards. Since this camera records in 2K and its grabbing dual feeds the requirements maybe more stringent. However, it would be good for Wyze to test and officially recommend cards beyond their Wyze branded cards for cameras with a more restrictive performance parameter.

I used the Sandisk High Endurance and still had issues with my Duo. I tried multiple cards. Support could not resolve it.

Could be a firmware issue or faulty hardware. I returned my camera so can no longer test it.

Also having issues with my SD card… I’m using a SanDisk 256GB Extreme. I use this card in all my other cams which currently consist of a few V3 Pros & a few battery Cam Pros… All with no issues using the same 256GB card. Tried formatting & using different cards with no change to the issue. I also used the card which had an “issue” on the Duo in other cams & it worked fine.

If you are having a lot of issues with micro SD cards, the problem is not the card itself.

For my purpose, I just use good micro SD cards and have never had a bad or corrupted micro SD. I only use event recording, but have used the same cards since 2019.

There is nothing magical about getting the right memory card.

@ssummerlin - Agreed. I took the 2 256gb sdcards from the db v2’s, reformatted them on my PC and put them in the new duos. Good to go.

I ordered some New lexar v30 64 GB cards and they work perfectly. It seems that the doorbell Duo does not like older micro SD cards even though they work fine in other Wyze products.

As of December 4, 2024, my 128GB SanDisk STILL cannot perform continuous recording. This SD card was pulled from a Cam v3, so it’s DEFINITELY not a compatibility issue.

After THREE factory resets, it STILL doesn’t record!

My guess? The poor firmware on the Duo Cam is STILL far from being stabilized. This is beyond frustrating!

I have had this issue off/on and originally thought it was due to cold temperatures. As of this week, I cannot get my SD card to work, even after replacing it and formatting them several times.

Please fix!!!

Finally fixed my issue. When using 256gb cards, it turns out Duo Cam Doorbell only works with the Wyze branded cards. I’ve tried over 20 different 256gb from Sandisk, Lexar, Samsung, PNY among several other types of 256gb size. Only the Wyze cards worked, all other ones became corrupted after some time. I did not try any other sizes; only 256gb. For me, this is case closed; I won’t dig into why Duo Cam will only accept 256gb Wyze cards. That might be a deep rabbit hole, hah.

I would not consider that a solution.

@edsanchez22 - Interesting you came to that conclusion. I have front and back door duo cams, both with sandisk 256gb high endurance cards. I have no issues with recording on either duo. Did you go endurance cards or just standard cards? What you have concluded makes no sense and must be isolated as an inconclusive user experience. No way a duo cam is going to be mass produced to use a single brand microsd card.

Sorry for your experience but this is very misleading. You should list each card you attempted to use in a post and state specifically the details of each card, brand, size, class, performance standard, etc. Perhaps members in the forum can detect what your issues are/were.

I agree with your assessment as well. I had similar problems with my Duo, I ordered some New Lexar v30 64 GB cards and they work perfectly. It seems that the doorbell Duo does not like older micro SD cards even though they work fine in other Wyze products.

I have also used lexar v30 cards but 128gb size. The problem is longevity. Once full and the overwriting begins, non-endurance cards tend to fail the “test of time” standard for “years of use”.

I have had great success with the Patriot line of cards. I use 64GB in all my cameras, record continuously and usually get a month before they overwrite. Not sure why so many people want to use a 256GB. I always format in the camera and never format before putting it in the camera.
