Just purchased my duo cam. Love the camera clarity and dual views from the cameras. I bought this for the continuous recording feature on the SD card. I’m using a Sandisk High Endurance 256 GB card and the device won’t record to it. Give me an error message. Tried multiple cards, formatting and all the other Wyze tricks. Cards work in other Wyze products like battery cam and floodlight pro. Any thoughts out there or is this product just too wary for market and bug laden?
Welcome @PalmettoBluff , Curious if you have Detection Zone turned on? I know this sounds weird to ask, but there appears to be some issue with events when Detection Zone is on. If it is, turn it off and see if that corrects the issue.
If it does, please post a Device log here.
thanks
Detection zone is off. The problem is that the device won’t record or format the card. I just ordered a Wyze card to see if that helps.
I realize that. That is why I stated it was a weird request. Let us know if the other card works for you
I wonder if that camera is having an issue with the 256GB card. Do you have a smaller card laying around that you can try?
I have the same issue with the same memory card (Sandisk High Endurance 256 GB). Followed @spamoni 's advice and I turned off the detection zone before rebooting and doing a format, and it seems to be doing fine after four hours.
Thanks for the feedback on this. I will add it to the issue log as well.
I had no luck with trying to make the SanDisk work. I was forced to buy a Wyze 256K and it’s working just fine now. Strange that the card wouldn’t work, they work in all my other Wyze cameras.
Just checked again, and I got an error code 20144 saying that it failed to load from local storage. Rebooted the camera and it is asking to format the card again. I find this very odd since the SanDisk High Endurance 256GB card seems to work well with the Wyze Cam v4.
I ordered a Wyze 256GB microSD card, so hopefully that will work out for me like it did for the OP.
Thanks, I know that Wyze is working on fixes for this camera. Will send this up the chain
I had the same issue with the memory card. Spent close to 2 hours chatting with support to get this resolved. No mention that it was a known issue. Sadly I have chosen to return the Duo.
My other gripe is that it only comes with one chime, which isn’t so loud and the is no ability to buy a 2nd chime or the chime kit.
This is helpful as I also use this card. I also use Samsung edurance cards. I prefer to format on my pc before inserting in cam and doorbells. I’ll even do a format if the card comes exfat. Hopefully, setting up ny duos when 3.2.6 can be installed from Play Store. As of 12:30 p.m. 11/30, it’s still not there.
I set up the Wyze 256GB microSD card last Friday. It seemed to be working well the past week, but it seems after a firmware update today and slightly changing the detection zone, I got a notification saying that the microSD card is not working again. It definitely seems to be something tied to the detection zone.
In my case it had nothing to do with the detection zone. I never set that up. Possibly cause by a firmware update.
Have issue with vdbc duo not recording to cloud or sdcard when set for smart event detection and notification and events for sdcard. If I set to continuous, recordings for cloud and sdcard work as should. I don’t use continuous for any cams and most have 256gb sdcards installed. Any help with this from duo users? I have submitted a log.
My duo is being very finicky. It is now recording to cloud and sdcard for events. Must be the current frigid weather we have in the northeast. I’ll continue to monitor.
This is very frustrating I’ve been a Wyze user since the original v1 camera. I have every model of camera they make and I’ve never seen an issue like this with a camera not accepting ANY SD card. I’m using SanDisk 32 gig cards in all my cameras with no issues. Trying to use the same cards in the duo doorbell cam does not work. I formatted them in exfat and FAT32 and neither one works. I’m unable to format it directly in the camera because it always fails. When the card is installed the camera continually stops responding on the network. The only way to get the doorbell to work consistently is to remove the SD card completely. This is an absolute mess it shouldn’t be that difficult for Wyze to get this device working with a standard SD card regardless of the manufacturer or the size. I see that several of you ordered Wyze branded SD cards that work with this camera. I have no intention of ordering one of their cars when I have several SanDisk cards that work in every other Wyze camera I own.
I just formatted a 128gb SD card in a Duo and there’s no a problem.
Can you provide the make and model of that SD Card? I’ve tried multiple SanDisk Ultra cards, two of which came from other working Wyze cameras, and have been unable to format or use any of them in the Duo Door Bell. I can use all of them in any other Wyze camera without issues.
I use Samsung’s endurance line of cards. The Sandisk brand should be OK, too, but there’s a slight chance you got a fake one. Same with the Samsung brand, but at least with the Samsung ones, they provide a downloadable utility to test for fake cards.
