Dual cam doorbell going off, nothing there

So I just got the Dual Cak Doorbell, not my first Wyze product. But for some reason it has been going off as if it’s detested motion and yet there’s nothing recorded and nothing there.

I’ve reset the settings, I’ve played with the sensitivity. But this is bringing up two things, one why isn’t it recording if it saw something that caused it to ring, and why is it ringing with nothing there.

Any help would be appreciated

I have a suspicion, but I’m not quite sure what this means:

Additional information about your installation would be helpful, as would an explanation of “going off” in this context. I suspect that you may have wired this to your low-voltage AC and have it set to actuate a built-in mechanical chime (like a typical “dumb” doorbell) but that you didn’t install Chime Controller and that you’re experiencing the “phantom” rings that have been reported in several other topics over the past year. If that’s the case, then the typical solution is to purchase Chime Controller and install that per the guide included in the Video Doorbell v2 section of the Help Center.

Note also that if you’re doing this and using your doorbell camera to actuate a home’s built-in mechanical chime (something with typical FRONT and TRANS or FRONT, TRANS, and REAR screw terminals), then it’s important to be absolutely certain that the existing wire coming into your chime box from the transformer is actually the one connected to TRANS and that the existing wire coming into the box and attached to FRONT is actually from your front doorbell wiring location (or rear, as applicable). Ask me how I know.[1]

If you’re experiencing something else, then please provide more detail about your installation and what you’re seeing and hearing with your Duo Cam Doorbell.

  1. I’ve documented this elsewhere in the Forum but haven’t yet had enough coffee to go looking. I’m lazy, but I’m genuinely willing to supply much more detailed information if someone is actually interested. ↩︎
