Constant “doorbell” ringing

Hi! I have two duo cam doorbells (one for each exterior door). My front doorbell rings constantly. If a vehicle drives by, if there’s a person, you get the idea. I’ve tried the do not disturb option in the app for the doorbell but it continues to alert all the time. I decreased the sensitivity and still it rings. How do I get it to stop? It’s like the boy who cried wolf. I never know if someone or something is actually at the door.

Welcome to the Forum, @brendabranham0501!

Two questions:

  1. Are you using these as wired doorbell cameras connected to your home’s built-in chime?
  2. Are you using Chime Controller with each Duo Cam Doorbell?

If #1 is “yes” and #2 is “no”, then I believe you may be experiencing the “phantom rings” that many Forum users have described when using a wired Wyze video doorbell to actuate a mechanical chime without Chime Controller, and installing Chime Controller—one for each video doorbell—seems to be the consensus solution.

I’m using the batteries and the ringing goes through my indoor camera, chime unit, and google displays. They all ring at the same time for the same events

That’s helpful detail. So you’re using Wi-Fi Chime plus one or more Wyze Cams using the “Cameras as chimes” feature, and you have it integrated with Google Home?

What other details about your settings can you share? Screenshots can be helpful with this, and sometimes representative event videos or thumbnails of problematic events can also be useful for troubleshooting.

What did Support say when you contacted them?

I don’t know how to contact Wyze support. I’ve tried calling but it’s a long wait. I don’t have an email or anything that I’ve found

I haven’t ever tried calling, and I don’t like waiting on hold. I usually tell the chatbot create ticket (sometimes I have to do this more than once in a chat) and then use the form it presents me to create an e-mail ticket. Note if you do that then your first e-mail response is likely to be from the Wyze-E bot with troubleshooting suggestions that may or may not be applicable. If you reply to that e-mail message, then responses afterward should come from actual human agents.

I’m still wondering about settings information. Since I don’t use Duo Cam Doorbell[1], I’m not sure exactly what settings are available there, but I think sharing more information about that might be helpful to community members who may want to assist. I also wonder if you’ve tried using a Detection Zone to mask out the street (since you mentioned vehicles driving by) and other areas within view that you don’t want to trigger the cameras.

  1. I’ve used Video Doorbell v2 and Battery Video Doorbell. ↩︎
