Don't buy wyse!

Agree. Wyze has taken a steep decline. Any company that tells you their support email address is not monitored tells you all that you need to know. Sad.

I’ve got the same Reolink Argus Pro with the solar panel. I got it a few months ago but I haven’t put it outside yet. I’m kind of “testing” it by using it in my laundry room to watch my cats’ litterbox. I have a lot of the same network connection issues you’ve mentioned: won’t connect, reports poor network quality, wants to switch to “Fluent” (640) mode. At home, with my router several feet almost directly above the camera.

What’s weird is that if I turn off wifi on my phone and use cellularf data, it seems to connect just fine.
Even weirder, I went out of town this weekend and used the app while connected to my parents’ wifi, and again, it connected just fine. How is it that it gives errors in my own home? And like you, it seems to be the only device that has these problems. If it won’t connect properly inside, how well could it work outside?

Maybe it’s an obscure router setting, I dunno. But my Wyze Cam Pan has never had connection issues in nearly a year. While I’d like to get another Reolink to have the PIR motion detection, I can’t bring myself to do so.

> “So what worries me is NOT the frequent rough spots as Wyze tries to maintain and improve the camera line, but all the complaints I see posted about shipping and quality of the health care products. Dividing resources, lack of laser focus and poor customer services are key ingredients for startup collapse. I hope it’s not the case here, but they are often early signals of big problems behind the scenes…”

THIS. Wyze tried to venture beyond its core competencies and made bold promises they couldn’t fulfill. They ultimately couldn’t execute to meet customers’ expectations. They wrote a check they couldn’t cash. They disappointed even their most loyal customers in doing so, and wasted valuable resources doing damage control. I felt so sorry for poor @UserCustomerGwen who got hammered day after day for nearly 3 weeks by irate customers who didn’t get their masks, or whose orders got lost or couldn’t be tracked, etc.

[Mod Edit] Wyze has done a great job for such an inexpensive device. If you don’t like it then go buy a big name brand and get frustrated with their product instead.

Yes, please @Wyze bring out a V3 and a V4 that rotates.

Thank you for mentioning the Yi cameras. I just found out they have pretty good integration with the locally controlled open source Home Assistant standard, which is great news. Apparently this compatibility is still on a distant “maybe later” status for Wyze. :frowning:

i agree, i actually bought wyze for a home security set up and have them at my business as well. so far ive had one issue with a drunk man walking into my business and of course the wyze camera displays no video at selected time. LAST night i had a guy at 131 am come and try to break into my house… of course, no video at selected time. these cameras are just what they are, a cheap 20 dollar camera. DO NOT USE AS A SECURITY MEASURE!!!

just curious, are u using a sd card and continuously recording? If you’re going to use for security, you have use a sd card, cuz if u get a false alarm 1:29 am then someone tries to break in at 1:31 am, that time frame is within the 5 min cooldown period & wont record it. Even with cmc, if for some reason the motion is not detected there could be no event recorded. At lease with a sd card & continuous, it “should” and most likely caught it.

Sounds like the thief knows Wyze will go into 5 min sleep mode after 1 min. of the triggering.

I am not sure how continuous recording will notify you after the initiall 1 min.

The guy breaking in would be enough notification. :slightly_smiling_face:

Continuous recording would have recorded the guy at the door.

Have two indoor Wyze cameras with the sensors being set up. They work great and haven’t failed me yet. I"d be happy to buy more and look forward to checking out the outdoor camera.

Yes it’s set for continuous record but it doesn’t matter because every time I hit view playback I get the no video at selected time. Then the playback will start from that point on for a few hours then it will lose its mind again and quit recording.

I was like you 2 years ago myself… I hope for your sake they continue to work for you.

I would give it more time before investing countless hours like I did setting up and countless resetting of cams and many senors.

At this moment the Wyze system has been okay…but not exactly what is advertised.

But they seem to fix some issues and other old issues come back.
It needs to be checked on and dearth with if problems seem to just come from nowhere or any changes none of which came from me.

“Wyze Anomalies” I call them …when absolutely no one knows how to address the issue.
If they do, it’s a fix that only works for them and not for you.

All in all I guess I’m happy … for now, but who knows what the next untested update will do ?

I do believe that some issues are Wyze server related …

Did you remove the SD card & read from pc?

More wyse problems. I noticed I lost a 128gb of footage on two wyse cameras recently after something was taken from my yard. Neither one of my pan cams had local playback available and I had to reformat each card and reintiate each one. They should alert to read and write errors.

I paid almost $40 per camera and outfitted them with large sd cards (more$). I didn’t buy these to occasionally record or prettily miss stuff. Me voicing my opinion on here and getting so many similar responses should be a wake-up call for you and wyze. Wyze, get your stuff together or you will be in the clearance shelf at home Depot wondering why it didn’t work out. We’re telling you what wrong.

I did do this, it actually had every hour on there except from midnight to 2am. Unfortunately, that’s what we needed.

Using cards over 32Gb is always going to be hit and miss as the cameras are only approved for 32Gb max.
It is frustrating thst larger cards only seem to work when you don’t need them though.:slightly_smiling_face:
