Does "im home or away" automations trump schedules?

i would like when i tap “im away” to override my schedule for when I have certain cameras and notifications off, meaning that if we are away overnight my scheduled turn off doesn’t trigger the next day. i didn’t see an if TTT sort of rule exception but maybe it’s inherently assumed if mark myself away, that default schedule is not triggered.

be nice if i could create a routine that i could just toggle on/off scheduled events to run or not, if for example a holiday changes whether or not people will be at site

My experience is everything is totally independent and not aware of other automations or manual changes to the settings.

If you have a rule to disable alerts at a certain time, then tapping “I’m away” turns them back on, they will remain on until the rule runs again the next day, or you tap “I’m home”. Similarly tapping “i’m home” will disable alerts even if a rule earlier turned them on.

In other words, when a rule/automation runs, it doesn’t care what came before or will come later, all it cares is at that particular time, if the setting is different from what the rule says, it changes it. Then it forgets about it.

This is exactly right.

I’d also mention that if you share the cams with another account, that account has some rules it can create which you won’t see (nor will they see yours) but they will take effect for both accounts. That obviously can be conflicting and confusing, so if you share your cam(s) best to ask the person not to touch rules and let you do it via the main acct.
