Scheduling Confusion

Hello,

I want to keep event recording on 24/7, but only get notifications during certain times. I am wanting only to be notified on a specific camera weekdays 530pm until 830am the next day and all day/night on weekends starting at 530pm friday ending 830am monday. I am including pictures of what I have setup and isnt working.

I have two immediate thoughts:

  1. When you say that you’re showing “what I have setup and isnt working”, I’m not sure what isn’t working. What, specifically, do you mean by that? Is it that some of the Automation is working but your entire schedule isn’t functioning as you expect, or is it that nothing is happening at all in the way you expect it to? What does your Automation History show? (Automation History is at  Home âžś Automations âžś [house with clock icon to the right of “My Automations” and below the “Automations” button].)
  2. Why don’t you simplify this with a Schedule Automation for the times you want notifications off?
    • DO
      • Camera
        • Turn off notifications (Turn on notifications at End Time)
    • WHEN
      • Start Time     8:30 AM
      • End Time     5:30 PM
      • S M T W T F S

I’m really glad you included images, because I think those are helpful. With the second screenshot in particular, I don’t know what you’re trying to accomplish with a midnight start time and no end time.

Try a single automation for notifications off (you may need to manually toggle the notifications on once, depending on what time it is when you initially set the schedule) and then let us know how it goes!

I have an automation similar to what @crease has detailed and mine works fine/as expected.

I just have 1 rule that turns off notifications on all cams at 9PM and with the end time set to 8am it automatically turns them back on. No second rule is needed.

thanks guys! your logic makes sense, i should have thought to invert it. seems to be working with only 1 schedule!
