Upon recording, to abide state laws. To have the ability to turn off the microphone. Or to have a nonaudio recoding version of the wyze cams.
You can disable audio recording in the Advanced Settings of the camera:

If your Wyze cam use case may involve legal jeopardy for you, it is relatively simple to permanently convert the V2 cams into nonaudio recording versions.
It takes a few minutes to remove/disable the microphone with a pair of pliers or a drill:
