When I initially set up my WyzeCam V2, the Detection Zone was a single re-sizable rectangle. Then an update changed that single rectangle to a much more effective grid system rectangle. My newly installed WyzeCam V3 comes with the single rectangle Detection Zone. I’d like to see the grid system rectangle also applied to the V3 because the grids allow much more flexibility and accuracy in defining motion capture zones. Thank you.
@johncb Welcome to the Wyze community!
The grid detection zone is already available on the v3 cam. I would recommend checking your v3 cam to make sure its firmware is up to date and you have the latest App. Beta FW v4.36.0.290 should have the grid zone.
My V3 has the grid style zone. Are you on the latest firmware?
You beat me to it! Lol
@StopICU33 and @towelkingdom , I just looked and noticed V3 FW version 4.36.0.290 is the Beta Release. .280 is the production release.
@johncb , if you want to load the Beta FW you do it as follows:
ou may need to join the beta by going here: Become a Beta Tester . But you can try the steps below first.
To select which Devices you would like Beta FW for do the following:
- Start the Wyze App
- Tap Account at the bottom of the screen
- Tap About
- Tap Beta Program (If you don’t have this, you will need to sign-up for the Beta Testing Program Frst), If it exists, simply tap on it
- Tap the Edit link at the top
- Select Which devices you would like Beta FW for. I select All Devices.
- Click Save
I would then shut the app down, and then start it again. Prob
ably not needed, but I do this to be sure. Then go to the Watch and see if the FW is available
@spamoni Thank you for catching that. I was thinking this version had already been released, but I see it hasn’t after checking the Release Notes & Firmware page.
I didn’t even think about the fact that it might not have been fully released yet.
Not a problem. It caught my eye as not to long ago I saw a similar post. :).
@StopICU33 and @towelkingdom question on Beta FW. Do you have to be subscribed as a Beta Tester to load the Beta FW? Or is that only for the app?
Asking cause when I provide the answer on FW, I indicate that they may need to be a beta tester.
@spamoni You don’t have to be a Beta tester to use the Beta app. If you want to use the Beta software just install it. You can always go back to the production app anytime.

To access the Android Beta app, go to the Google play store and search for Wyze labs, scroll down a bit and tap on join the Beta. Afterwards delete the production app and install the Beta app.

For iOS download TestFlight app from the App Store.
I understood that. My question is about the FW for the devices. Do you have to be enrolled in the Beta Test Program to install the FW?
I think I answered my own Question, I removed the iPhone from the Beta Program, but under the About area, you can still select the Beta FW for devices.
Thanks for the feedback,
Honestly, I’m not sure. I’ve been a beta tester so long that I don’t remember what I had to do.
Same. I think you can load the FW without loading the Beta App. I verified that on the iOS device.
Sorry about the confusion. That is interesting. I didn’t think you could use the Beta FW unless you had the Beta app installed. I uninstalled my Beta app to confirm, and I still see the “Wyze Beta Program” and the products I’ve been testing. I’m guessing probably because we both already had the Beta FW installed.
Maybe I’m wrong but without the Beta app installed, I doubt the Beta FW will update when the next version is released.
Just looked at my Wife’s phone as she is not in the Beta Program. You are correct, you need to be registered as a Beta Tester and load the Beta App before it will show the FW. Not sure why I did not think of that earlier.
I would say you are correct here as well.
Thank you, folks, for all the feedback. I’ll wait for the production release with the grid detection zone. I prefer not to go beta with my security system. Thanks again.
I agree.
