I agree with gx1844, Wyze should take some ownership regarding timing of notifications as impacted by Wyze servers and/or the Wyze app.
I also experience delays in notifications from 30 seconds to 15 minutes (longer on the times the Wyze servers have bigger issues which is thankfully not too often).
Wyze please publish realistic expectations as impacted from your side.
Of course there are things that can impact this on the customer side but you should acknowledge the Wyze impact.
Understand you clearly label these as NOT for security purposes BUT Wyze clearly understands that this is a typical use case for Wyze customers. Doesnāt Wyze have some accountability here?
I think WYZE should strive to make notification come as timely as possible, but not because people use them in a way that WYZE says not to. That would be like saying WYZE should make the cameras hold up better to weather extremes because WYZE knows that people use then outdoors when it clearly states it is an indoor camera.
As far as ring, I donāt know, but I have an Arlo and during the times I get delayed notifications when the phone goes into a āDozeā mode, it stops Arlo also, even stops my emails from coming through.
Get on IFTTT. Then create a service using WYZE + PUSHOVER. You may have to sign up with the PUSHOVER App first.
The IFTTT service you create could be something like (If motion is detected on WYZE then PUSHOVER will send a notification). Just follow the IFTTT prompts. Its easier to do on a computer than on your cell phone but it can be done on phone using the create prompt in the get started menuā¦ Set your PUSHOVER notification at high priority and it will push notifications through Do Not Disturb and DOZE. It worked great on my Android 9 phoneā¦ Good luck.
You can also set special notification sounds. I turned wyze notifications off. Also check your phone settings for IFTTT AND PUSHOVER. to allow exceptions for power saving and Do Not Disturb.
hey joecap sounds very interesting but before I go down the NOOB path of setting this up can you comment on your experience?
do you experience any hiccups with IFTTT Pushover notifications of Wyze motion detection, like the Wyze app does periodically with lengthy delays for notifications? I would certainly like more timely / reliable notifications than Wyze currently delivers (Wyze sometimes great, sometimes not so much on timely notifications)
does going IFTTT Pushover for notifications effect Wyze person notification? Do you ālooseā person notification designation by going IFTTT Pushover?
I havenāt had any issues with IFTTT WYZE + Pushover. Always very quick notification. There is not currently a IFTTT setting to trigger on person notification. What I have done to simplify notifications is to have all of my sensors and cameras, including person notification on the WYZE App. turn on a Wyze single light or switch. Then on IFTTT I have it send me a notification when that one switch or light turns on. This requires only one IFTTT service instead of multiple services. In addition I have added a sound alarm to the switch which is being turned on, giving me a complete security alarm system. Nothing is lost with this system. There is also an ANDROID SMS capability on IFTTT which you can use in a similar manner to send you a text notification. Iām using both, but PUSHOVER works best. Prior to this fix I was about to give up on Wyze due to the notification issues.
