Here is another Dear Abby involving a security camera. I thought the Wyze community would enjoy reading Dear Abby’s response.
The only times I can think of dropping by someone’s house unexpectedly are basically immediate family where it’s long established between us and where we’re basically always happy to see each other and always welcome.
My cul-de-sac neighbors also often stop by randomly to give us treats or something and they are always welcome to do so, any time.
I have some close friends that I would welcome to my home any day, any time, for any reason or none, even if I wouldn’t necessarily show up to them unexpectedly.
Though, I do find peace and joy in solitude, and would not be upset to rarely leave my house or visit anyone, I love my family and friends too, and enjoy my time with them too. I just don’t go out of my way to initiate social stuff because I’m perfectly happy either way.
It sounds like these 2 ladies had a different understanding on the level of their relationship and expectations of what it was, and when the one found out the level and expectations weren’t mutual, she got super offended they weren’t as “close” as she had made up in her head based on her expectations.
Funny to think how this likely wouldn’t have happened without a security camera though. The lady might have still come unannounced, but I bet they’d have handled things differently in person vs a text as dear Abby discussed.
I have cams so I don’t need to answer the door, unless I want to. Having a garage makes it difficult to know if I am home.
You must have a garage door like the picture on the left. I would hate having windows where people could peek in.
I would have just kept quiet about the unannounced visit. Check your camera before opening the door. Eventually the person would get the idea.
I also hate garage doors with windows.
Yes. If I had windows, I would paint them with a glaze coat just to allow sun in. No windows in front door area as well.
They can visibly see my camera sitting inside on the window sill in the guest room. One guy waved and then left.
