I bought my camera Wyze Cam4 from amazon. It said it was free. Do I need a subscription?
No subscription needed. It works fine without it.
I do recommend at least inserting a MicroSD card so you can actually record/save and view past video events, otherwise you’ll only be able to see the live stream and get notifications there was movement.
The subscription just adds a lot of benefits such as AI detections for Person, Pet, Vehicle, Package, Crying, and more, as well as recording full length motion event videos in the cloud without using the SD card, but the subscription isn’t necessary to get good use out of the camera.

Maybe try your v4 camera with no subscription first.
You can get a 30 day free trial of Cam Plus subscription service.
Then, after 30 days decide which way is best for you.

And if you do purchase a subscription, please purchase from the Wyze store linked in @StevenA’s post above, not from Google via the Play Store or in-app. And you must purchase using the same email address as that which you used to setup your cam.

Also, do NOT purchase Cam Plus through Amazon either. Wanted to also mention that since the OP bought the v4 from Amazon.
It is easier to get subscription problems resolved when purchasing directly from the Wyze Store.
