The Wyze cams are basically hobbled without a subscription.

Wyze’s entire business model is subscription based, which was a deviation from Wyze’s original beginning.

The cameras are inexpensive, and the lack of quality comes with that. Check for posts on lens fogging and you will find that the lens seal eventually fails and moisture gets sucked into lens then fogs up.

This usually happens just out of warranty period so plan on replacing cameras after they fog up lenses or other failures.

There are other brand cams for a few dollars more that don’t require the subscription and all features work without a subscription.

I started out with Wyze cams and eventually changed out all my cameras in locations where security needs to be reliable to Reolink cams (No Subscription Required.)

I still use Wyze cams too but more as a toy camera in areas less critical, so they do have there uses….

Wyze has a 1 year warranty, Reolink has a 2.5 year warranty.

Reolink has Stable software and firmware I have only seen 1 update to app in 2 years.

Wyze has had so many updates in the same 2 year period I lost count and usually with Every Update there is a new problem created,

Wyze doesn’t test well before release and it shows just read some posts in forum about updates.

I haven’t tried Eufy brand cams but they are subscription free too.

As the saying goes “You Get What You Pay For” and that definitely applies to Wyze :grin:

Wyze offers updates on updates, sometimes within hours; these are referred to as “hot fixes.” :rolling_on_the_floor_laughing:

Browser interface I believe is only available for paid subscribers. However, battery cameras don’t get all the browser features wired cams have. Browser live view and audio on clips are not supported on my Wyze outdoor V2. If you want to hear the audio of a clip. You’ll need to use the phone app. Haven’t got the BCP yet, maybe someone else could fill in on these details.
