I cain’t! Cain’t do 'er! I can only suppose that the Wyze Forum’s implementation of Discourse is configured to style footnotes that way, because that’s not how they appear in the markdown-it demo. I would guess that footnotes could be configured to appear differently depending on how the Discourse Footnote plugin is set up.

His code is actually:

It's pretty ridiculous^[Ridiculously _funny_!].

Yeah, that’s right. Discourse even swaps out the plain-jane apostrophe (')[1] with the ā€œprettyā€ version, which looks more like a right-single quote (’)[2], just like how it’s configured to substitute ā€œprettyā€ distinctive double quotation marks for the non-directional version that appears on your keyboard’s keycap.

I suspect the big ol’ midline horizontal ellipsis that’s substituted in for the more traditional footnote is what the Discourse team have chosen to be the ā€œexpandable mobile-friendly footnotesā€ styling, because it’s probably a lot easier to tap with a fingertip on a phone-sized screen than a little ā€œ[1]ā€ might be.

Oh, and I also assume that the #footnote-911764-1 reference is generated on the fly by the Discourse platform as the internal anchor to link the two elements of the footnote together. I don’t enter numbers like that when I use this feature. The way I type it is pretty straightforward and simple. Discourse is doing all the hard work.

I’m just making suppositions about all this stuff, though. :man_shrugging:

  1. This time I’m trying to force it to be plain. ā†©ļøŽ

  2. I’m trying to force this one, too. ā†©ļøŽ

Again, this is not enough about me. Still, it’s good to have you around ā€˜big gun.’

Don’t let the cartridges hit you in the chest when you’re poppin’ off (I don’t know guns from pop tarts!)

I think really the best thing about me is that I’m generous. We should celebrate that occasionally. :gift: :gift_heart:

@Antonius is getting better and better. @ashtonwalky 's handle is still awesome. @Seapup sleeps with one eye open. @ourmessages is joining the Peace Corp. And I live in a temperate climate.

You?

(Stay on topic! :policewoman: )

@IL1 is a sweetheart! (I don’t know for sure but I sense it!)

@WyzeMatt is hoarding special discounts and will soon release them all at once. He is ruggedly handsome for a Wyze employee but what’s that beard hiding, a weak chin?

@carverofchoice is starting to chase my flies because AI allows him to do everyone else’s job in addition to his own so waaaaah! :crying_cat_face:

@Crease is nice but not hard enough on the carver. He keeps embedding things doubly (and now tripoli!) Where does he find these tricks??

And if I saw the rest of the @Mavens occasionally I’d compliment them, too, but y’know, they’re diffabled (profitably) and very busy snooping DMs and stuff. They’re nice (for rank elitists) and they give until you hurt!

OMG! I totally forgot that it’s Slurpee day! Thanks for pointing it out!

IIRC, it’s possibly the only day my wife and I both stayed up all night (in college early in our initial dating time…,talking with friends and then going to go get free slurpees).

I still stay up ALL night regularly (like every other week) to work, but my wife doesn’t

What’s your go-to flavor(s)? I don’t do Slurpees very often, but when I do, I look for Coke, Dr Pepper and Blue Raspberry.

I never heard of 7-11 until I did a TDY to San Diego in the early 70s. But before Slurpees, I was slurping the same from High’s Dairy. High’s calls a Slurpee a Slushee. Not sure which came 1st.
