I have a dozen or so Wyze camera v2 that have been mothballed for about three years that I just turned on and got updated. I used to be able to play clips from them from different event triggers, now it won’t let me do it without a subscription? I’m confused.
Also the video time code is 24h while all the times are 12h making it confusing to scroll through the recording timeline which it looks like the cameras are not recording locally or I don’t have access to that either even though they show SD cards with data on them.
Three years ago everything worked fine, what gives?
Free video clips went away about 2 years ago unless you had cam plus lite.
All my cloud events and SD recordings show the 24 hour clock.
Are you trying to record events or continuous to the SD?
Does the used space on the SD increase?
Wow that’s quite a rug pull for them to take a main selling feature at the time and arbitrarily remove it later, what a bait and switch. Very disappointing. Must be nice, I would be out on the street if I did that to my customers.
In regards to timestamps, the time stamp in the event tab is in 12hr while the SD card recording and camera timecode burn in is in 24hr. So for example the event could have been listed as happening at 1:15pm but both the SD card window to scrub through footage would show it happening at 13:15 as well as the timecode burn on the video itself.
As to recordings, I added a v3 camera and it seems to be recording events but the v2 cameras don’t (all using the same 64gb card). All the v2 cameras show old footage on the SD card but none of them will record events and some of them won’t format the SD card. Strange, they all worked fine before being turned off. BTW the SD card in the v3 was removed from its v2 predecessor which was the same age as the others and it works fine.
As @Antonius indicated, what you see in the UI (like when you’re seeing 12-hour times on the Events tab) is likely a consequence of how you have your phone set. My understanding is that the app will generally use your phone’s setting to determine how to display the time in that UI element; however, the inconsistency between the in-video time stamp format and what the app UI shows for some users—not only on the Events tab but also in the microSD recording timeline—is annoying and demonstrates how disjointed the the app’s construction seems to be. For instance, with my Cam OGs, the timestamp in the lower-right corner of the video displays in 24-hour time (which is my personal preference, and which I imagine is probably hard-coded into the firmware), but the microSD recording timeline shows 12-hour time despite having my phone set to display 24-hour time. Ugh.
Thank you for the information. I’ll rescind my previous comment about rug pulling only if I can get the cam plus lite on my cameras, so far I have been unsuccessful. If I can’t then it still stands. Don’t make promises or features you can’t keep and if you do make sure your existing base is taken care of within the time frame they expect. In the case of the 12 second cloud video with the 5 minute cooldown, permanently.
In regards to 12/24hr time my phone is indeed in 12hr time. I honestly don’t care which one it is, it just needs to be able to be consistent. It is irrational to ask me to change the timescale on my phone to make it work properly in one app. This should be a setting in the Wyze app if it isn’t already, I haven’t found it yet.
This topic is unfortunately and unsurprisingly looking like turning into another case of a “sorry about your luck” support thread. I do appreciate the honesty and information though, at least I understand what is going on.
