Has anyone having problems with cameras going offline today?
I have 12 V3 cameras and they have been working perfectly but today I woke up to one of them being offline so I did the usual power cycling, restarting in the app and resetting services. I now find that another one has just gone offline.
It just seems a bit strange, my network is working ok and most of my cameras are working ok. Normally when something goes wrong I tend to blame something external. I am hoping that I am not the only one having this problem.
Yep - done that, it made no difference. I have a Google nest system that allows me to do diagnostics and everything is ok. Maybe the heatwave here has been affecting the cams
I thought that I would check on here before spending loads of time sorting it out. I’ve done that several times with other faults just to find out that it was servers, AWS, firmware, app upgrades etc.. etc…
Personally, I haven’t noticed any anomalies with my V4 and V3s. Could be a server issue as you might be connecting to a different server than I. Give it another day and see what pans out.
I am in the UK so probably on a different server. My V3s are getting a bit old now so I may swap the problem ones for new. it means going up a ladder though.
I’ll wait a day or so to see if anything mends itself
Yes, this is an excellent thing to try. Often it makes all the difference. No, we don’t have an explanation, but frankly, everyone should reboot their cable modem and router at least monthly. And always “from the outside towards the inside”. That’s first let the cable modem boot all the way, then the router. And then if cameras or stuff is offline, try restarting them.
I have had a similar problem in the past with one of my V3 cams. I have 2 V3’s and a V4. I am not to fond of the micro usb connections.. they are very fragile. One slight move and the cameras power goes off.
I think the USB C would fix this problem in the future.
Also check the box that the usb wire plugs into. They fail.
Unfortunately all my cams are V3 so I’m stuck with them until they break and then replace them one by one.
It may just be the weather we have here. We have had 3 heatwaves this year so far and the cam that stopped first is in direct sunlight at the hottest part of the day.
I had a V4 go offline at a 2nd home two days ago and two V4s went offline at my primary home today. I received a notification from the app telling me about today’s offline event, but both cameras came back online without any intervention from me. Of course the one at the 2nd home did not. Restarting or unplugging the camera didn’t work, but rebooting the router brought it back online. None of the other cameras were affected at either home, just the three V4s.
I’ve still got one offline and one other started working ok without me doing anything so I’m waiting to see if it comes back online. I really don’t want to go up a ladder if I can avoid it.
I have 3 and mine were doing it all day Tuesday. I was playing Whack-a-mole trying to keep them online and gave up mid afternoon. Today they have been rock solid. I didn’t do anything to fix it.
Any chance that your ISP has updated the firmware/security protocols and something is interfering with your cameras? It’s been known to happen. There is an entire thread on Xfinity 7 gateways that locked many users out.
Is there any chance you can contact your ISP and find out, provided that they don’t treat you as a moron like Canadian ISPs do?
My ISP is not known for being customer friendly, getting them to repair even major faults is extremely time consuming. I doubt they will have made any changes or upgrades. I think that I will swap out the affected camera for a known working one when I get the time to go up the ladder.
It has to do of how many cameras you have attached to the base. I have 4 cameras but couldn’t attach to one base. I had to attach one of the cameras to a separate base to keep the cameras functioning properly with the internet connection
