Had an issue the other day where two battery cam pro’s didn’t pick up an Amazon truck parking at the end of my driveway (within the detection zone) and the driver walking into the detection zone, then my camera closer to my house also didn’t pick him up as he approached the house. The first (only) detection was my doorbell camera. Again he walked back down my driveway past both cameras and neither triggered an event.
I have the detection settings on both set at the highest levels and range. The camera at the end of my driveway has a detection zone that only covers part of the street but anything coming into the driveway (person, car, animal) I would expect to trigger an event. If for any reason that camera doesn’t pick it up, I would expect my camera further up the driveway to pick up the movement. In this instance, neither camera triggered.
For my End of Driveway Camera I have Event Recording set as follows:
Smart Detection on with Record/Notify for Person/Pet/Vehicle. The cool down is set at 3 minutes and a 12 second record time.
For my Driveway Camera I have Event Record set as follows:
Smart Detection on with Record/Notify for Person/Pet/Vehicle. The cool down is set at 1 minute and a 12 second record time.
I checked events leading up to it thinking the cooldown was an issue but this happened at 2:10pm and both cameras last event was around 1:50pm.
Is this an issue that is known or is there a setting I might not fully understand?
Have you tried resetting these cameras? (Sometimes a full power cycle is necessary). My cameras occasionally need a power cycle, as occasionally they just cease to do certain things like what you describe (the reason all mine are on smart switches or plugs).
Be sure you have placed the Battery Cam Pro in a location like Wyze suggests. I think it’s 7 feet up, 20º downward angle. Also, I don’t think you want an eave or overhang or anything within 1-2 feet of the top of the camera.
If you’re not getting a ton of activity that drains your battery, I’d suggest setting your camera to no cooldown and keeping the 12-second recording time.
If you have specific areas where you really want to catch anyone coming and going and you wouldn’t get a lot of junk Motion alerts, I recommend trying “Motion alert notifications” on for just those cameras. This way, you’ll be sure to get an alert for any movement – I do this for cameras facing gates, outside doors, etc. If someone enters the frame and triggers the camera, I want it uploaded and notified.
I have Motion alerts & Person alerts on for my Battery Cam Pro facing a less-trafficked side of my property. With JUST Person alerts, I wouldn’t get an alert if someone moved quickly or just walked into a small area of the frame – I don’t think I had this issue with the prior WOC v2, but maybe the placement is different
