I initially tried disabling protected browsing and it seemed to work for a bit. Fooled me long enough that I actually made post here saying that it worked, but nope.
Might just be mine that it didn’t work long term for and if that’s the case, then this would be the perfect workaround as it does not require disabling of the firewall.
Sadly there is no way to whitelist anything specific regarding traffic or devices on the xfinity router.
I do agree with you that if this is specific to xfinity routers that Wyze should be engaging with xfinity support to troubleshoot this. I don’t think it would take them too long to figure it out if they were both collaborating, but we still don’t know for sure if this is just an xfinity thing or if it’s more widespread.
I feel like it would worth making a poll to see if the issue is indeed limited to xfinity routers or not. Maybe others watching this thread that are having issues can chime up with what they’re running.
I really appreciate everyone’s efforts to assist with this issue. I noticed yesterday that Ring cams were on sale at Amazon. They arrived today and I have already set them up. I am going to give my old Wyze cams to my daughter since she has a different WiFi provider - maybe they will work for her. It’s been three months since I’ve had this issue and I have no reason to believe it will ever be resolved.
That’s too bad. I hope you both have better luck with your respective cams. Wyze sure has plenty of puzzling problems.
Some users have no issues, some have a few and many have too many. We all have the same cams and firmware. I can’t believe all problems are network related but yours seems most possible.
It would be fascinating to learn how the Wyze cams work on your daughter’s network, but you probably want to wash your hands and move on.
Good idea, I had a house with 7 Ring cameras for almost a year no major problem so far and when you have ring home security all cameras cloud membership included, so you pay 200 a year for home security and you can add many ring cameras for free.
I can’t visualize how you can come up with such a statement. I would say since we are ONLY seeing the problems in this forum… "Some users have many issues, Most users have few issues… and I can believe most problems are network related (or conductivity issues with using non OEM parts or just too long a run(cable).
I worked on issues with html back in the day (late 80s early 90s). Each web browser decoded html differently, so when you created a web site it had to tested against IE, Firefox, and a dozen other startup browsers to make sure it worked with each one… you could say it was a ‘browser’ issue… but in reality until there was more standardization… everyone blamed it on “Java”…
[pointing fingers at everyone else] [clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right…]
All I’m saying… “before you blame me, take a look at yourself”…
All cams up and running… consistantly… but I have NO OG cams… NOT without a LOT of network tweeking…
How do you explain the greyed-out playback button?

I will let you know how the Wyze cams work elsewhere. I’m giving some to my daughter and the rest to a friend. I see that a new Xfinity router has solved the problem for some people. I might have tried this had I known before I invested in the Ring cams. The Ring cams were easy to set up, and the livestreams work great when I am away from home.
Hopefully your daughter and friend will have better luck. Sometimes it may be easier to see what other vendors have to offer. I decided to try Kasa for bulbs.
In either case, I would recommend to upgrade your router for free from your provider. Seems most upgrade to Wifi 6E. I upgraded my router when they stopped patching the old one. From Wifi 5 to Wifi 5. I added a Wifi 6 in conjunction.
Same here, bulbs and plugs. They keep schedules locally and I use the plugs to remotely power cycle my router when needed. I just purchased this rebooter for the cottage. I’ve been testing it at home and it works like a charm for scheduled and remote reboots.
