Camera / doorbell storage

Looking to start use wyze with a few cameras and the pro doorbell.

Is there an option to store recordings longer than 14 days?

Or can recordings be downloaded easily so they can be saved locally longer than that?

If you use a microSD card you are only limited by the size of the card. For online (cloud) videos, 14 days is a strict limit, but you can download them easily and keep them as long as you like. Not really manageable if you want lots of videos but one here and there, simple to download.

But if you don’t want to pay a monthly fee (you only get 14 days of online videos if you subscribe), just get an SD card, you can have 24x7 recording that way if you like (just bear in mind that will fill the card up faster, mine fills a 128G card in something like 11 or 12 days).

You’ll need 1 card per camera but sandisk and samsung high endurance cards are pretty cheap and reliable.

You can download recordings.

You can also use sd cards on some cameras, but note that the files get overridden once the card is full.

The 14 days is for the cloud recording. And without a subscription to cam plus, you won’t get video clips for the cloud recording. But you can still use the sd card recording.

Welcome to the Forum, @Dave31!

Since others have mentioned local storage using microSD (which I like, and I use 256 GB cards in my cameras) and you mentioned…

…please be aware as you’re exploring your options that Video Doorbell Pro does not support microSD card storage. Wyze has apparently changed their stance on local storage for video doorbells since that Help Center article was published, because they launched Video Doorbell v2 last year and Duo Cam Doorbell this year, both of which have microSD card slots. That and the ability to power it with in-place low-voltage AC and use my home’s existing mechanical chime were what drew me to Video Doorbell v2, and I’ve been really pleased with it.
