Is there a way to keep wyze recording indefinitely instead of 14 days

Is there a way to keep the recordings longer than 14 days?

Cloud recordings, no, 14 days is the limit. With SD card, it is only limited by the size of the card (and whether you use continuous or event only recording).

My 128G cards on continuous recording get 11-13 days depending on the cam and the complexity of what it is looking at.

Anything important is saved to the album, then copied to my photos.

This SD card

Will probably store recordings for 5 and a half months in continuous recording mode. It might store “Events” for years" depending on the camera and how often it gets motion.

Another option is to use an RTSP conversion tool and have the events or continuous stream recorded to a DVR/NVR/NAS. Then a 20TB Harddrive could probable store continuous recordings for over 6 years. It could store for a LONG time if you do events only.

But yeah, other than the above, the only option is to download and save whatever recordings you think are important

I have unlimited Google Photos storage (I have an older Pixel 5 that gets unlimited Google Photos storage still, so it now just sits in my home office and I have all my devices upload photos and videos to it through Syncthing to upload to Google Photos so they don’t use up any of my Google storage space = unlimited). That is basically the only way to get unlimited indefinite video event cloud storage…download any events you want to save.

Wanting to store 5.5 months of Continuous Recordings and wanting to search through 5.5 months of Continuous Recordings might be two different things.

You would definitely need an AI search feature.

Something like “AI, show me possible issues.”
Grab a drink and some popcorn and sit back in your recliner to watch the show.

I did suggest to Wyze that for their fancy new AI Search feature (that currently reviews cloud events when turned on) they consider keeping an index of everything the AI detected, and allowing to link people to the SD card directly too. Then we could store more than 14 days of AI search in an index and it would continue to be usable with SD card playback. (Again, by consent only for specific cams like they do for the cloud AI search to begin with). That would make it pretty useful if I could just ask the AI to show me videos of some events even from months ago, such as " show me the video of my brother belly flopping off the diving board" from months ago so I can tease him at the next family get together and show the other brothers.
