Why does my camera AI think every single thing, vehicle is a package? It’s VERY frustrating. Yes, I have been providing feedback on the videos.
If there is a package in the field of view and it takes up a certain amount of the image, it will get flagged as that. The AI has to pick whatever it considers most prominent in the image.
If there is no package then look for other box shaped objects that it might be confusing, you can try to exclude it with detection zone if it is a permanent object.

I have had this issue with my welcome mat being detected as a package (it does kind of resemble cardboard). Then anything else that triggered an event would cause a package detection because the welcome mat was always in view. So the cars, pets, people, tree branches etc weren’t actually being detected as a package, they were just creating an event due to motion, but it was the same object being identified (the welcome mat). I was able to reduce this issue by adjusting the mat a little and then submitting a lot of corrections within a couple of months, the AI updates helped reduce that issue.
I also get this is there are box shaped objects or cardboard left anywhere on my porch.
If you post a screenshot we can probably tell you what the real likely culprit is.
At some point they’re going to have to realize that just sending a still frame for analysis isn’t enough, the cam needs to send a rough coordinate of the motion too.
Heck they could even just divide the image up into like 16 boxes and send a number along with the image.

They’re working on a moving AI prototype. They’ve also recently introduced identified categories for package delivered and package picked up which will make it possible to only get a notification during those events and not repeated notifications that the package is stationary. Those identifiers haven’t been widely launched on VDBs yet, but they are partially implemented on the new Duo Cam Doorbell in certain places.

Had to turn off package detection on this cam. Too many false notifications for several reasons; the step railing post, the solar lights on the post, the concrete square walkway, etc. Can’t do any detection zone carveouts here.
Detection zones aren’t working at all on my doorbell camera. I’ve grayed out everywhere that could alert, including the outlet box and neighbor’s doormat that AI continues to flag as packages, and all of the road where vehicle motion starts recording, but cars still start the video and package alerts when there’s nothing.
For Detection Zone issues, something that can sometimes be helpful with troubleshooting within the community is enabling Motion Tagging (to show the green boxes that display when motion detection is triggered) and then sharing screenshots that show both how your Detection Zone is set and the capture of an unwanted notification that shows the green box(es), if you’re comfortable with that. That can at least get some other eyes on the problem for you.
