I have an original Pan Cam, a Deck/Floodlight cam, and a V3 Cam. I have set the Wyze app to use the System Default as the notification sound on my Android phone (Android 15 on Pixe 7 Pro) rather than the Wyze notification sound. All has been well for months. Recently, however, the V3 Cam has decided to give BOTH the System Default notification sound AND the Wyze notification sound. The other 2 cameras are giving just the single desired System Default sound.
I have double checked the notification sound in the Wyze app. Have actually set it to a different sound, saved it, and then set it back to the System Default just to make sure. Still get the dual notification on the V3 Cam. There’s only 1 option for the notification sound setting, right? I’m not seeing an option to customize the sound for each camera.
I have powered off the the V3 Cam and restarted it multiple times. Still get the dual notification on the V3 Cam.
I have rebooted my phone. Still get the dual notification on the V3 Cam.
Dual sounds is a common issue, but I’ve never heard of it doing both the wyze sound and the system default sound for a single cam. If you go into the notification settings on android you’ll probably see more than one “wyzenotification” and probably both are triggering (one is for the system default sound, one is for whatever app sound you used at some point). Removing and reinstalling the app will clear that all out and you’ll just have one in there (after your first notification) and you can set it to whatever sound you want. The sound settings in the wyze app are basically useless, just ignore those and set the sound you want in android notifications settings.
Good info. Looking at the Android Notifications setting on my phone I do indeed see 2 “WyzeMessage” entries and one has “Default Notification Sound” and the other has “App Provided Sound”. I couldn’t see a way to delete the incorrect entry so I deleted and re-installed the app (as you suggested) and now I am just getting the single desired notification. Thanks for your help!
There are major glitches with the notification settings in the app, so I totally ignore that, don’t change anything, and just manage it via the system notification settings.
There is still a bug where you’ll sometimes get the system notification twice (or the wyze one if you opt to set that up instead), that’s been a bug for a long time and I’m just used to it.
