I have a Pan Cam V4. I started monitoring on my android phone and on the web portal. I decided to switch to an android tablet instead of the web portal for more control.
I downloaded the latest version onto the tablet and logged into my account. Went to the camera and looked for the waypoints and was surprised to see no waypoints saved. I brought up the app on my phone, and everything was there.
I had to manually save the waypoints again to the tablet. Is this normal?
Fortunately, I only have one Pan Cam V4. For those who have more I can see that this would be a pain.
Also, I had to disable tracking as the camera would almost never come back to “home.”
Are they both running the 3.x Wyze app or is one a 32 bit device only supporting the old 2.x app? I wouldn’t think 2.x would work with the Panv4 at all but maybe once it is added it has limited functionality?
Odd. I vaguely remember a time or two when my phone had a bad wifi signal that the waypoints took a bit to show up, so maybe there was some brief connectivity glitch? Are both devices now in synch or does the original device show two sets of waypoints now?
Odd. I have Panv3s not v4s but I wouldn’t expect that.
One thing you can try if you want:
On each device, hit “reset services” under the cam’s settings.
On each device, clear the cache in the wyze app and exit.
Then on both, clear both cache and user data under the wyze app’s storage settings (this will log you out).
Reboot each device, launch the wyze app and log back in.
That’s as close as you can get to clearing out any possible “stale” settings.
I’d almost say step 1 delete the waypoints from both devices, if you don’t mind that extra time/steps, I’d do that too. Then recreate them on one device at the end and see if the come up on the other too.
I just deleted all of the waypoints from both devices and recreated them on the tablet. Opened up the phone and they were all there.
I then edited the waypoints on the phone and was able to change all of the waypoints on the phone without affecting the waypoints on the tablet.
I sort of like this. I am now able to set 8 different views from one cam instead of just 4. If I had another device I could possibly have 12 waypoints for this one camera.
I added the app to another phone and logged into my account.
The waypoints from the tablet, which were the initial ones that were set up, were the ones that transferred to the new app. I again edited those waypoints and now I have 12 different waypoints for this one camera.
Interesting bug/glitch. I wouldn’t count on it lasting though….
On my Panv3 when the 2.5 app stopped working right with waypoints, they would display but not work when tapped (not sure if they would have worked for pan/scan as I don’t use that). Sounds like yours are actually working, though I wonder which ones would get used for pan/scan.
“I wouldn’t count on it lasting though” I agree.
I initiated the Pan/Scan, which I also do not use, and it used the waypoints that were saved to the last device.
I initiated the scan from both phones and the tablet, and all three devices used the waypoints from phone 2.
I check that the waypoints saved to each device were still working and they were.
That is some goofy behavior! I haven’t seen anyone else describe this, and I wonder if the “few small bug fixes” introduced with this release a couple of days ago also resulted in this bug “feature” you seem to be experiencing.
I don’t even use all 4 on my Cam Pans, but I still think there should be a dedicated Waypoint (or some other pre-determined position, whether it has that name or not) for the Cam to assume when inserting/removing microSD cards, so I sometimes end up setting a “Waypoint” just for that in order to minimize manual movement of the Cam against its motors/gears.
Actually, I’ve wondered about having that be something like an “insert/eject” button to put the Cam into the proper position, and I’ve also suggested this. When a microSD card is being properly detected by the Cam, that screen already shows whether or not one is present, so they should be able to change the state/text of the button based on that.
I don’t want to derail @D808A’s topic, though. I’d be interested in seeing screenshots showing 12 working Waypoints. So far only one of my phones has updated to the v3.10.6.753 app, and I haven’t tried replicating this myself.
