So I’ve had a CamPan v3 in the main area of my house for a couple years now, and just had it set to record continuously to local SD card. But when I checked it last night, it’s only recording events, and only giving me a single thumbnail snapshot of the event, not continuous video?!? Didn’t use to do that! So as I change the menu to see the list of events, I see an inserted ad saying that I now need CamPlus in order to record continuously to my LOCAL SD card??? SINCE WHEN?!?! I should be able to record continuously to my own SD card without CamPlus! Did they change the terms recently on this camera without my knowledge??? Anyone?
The event tab is for cloud events and not local. To see your continuous recordings, tap on the SD card icon.
You will be presented with the SDCard recordings. From there, you can see everything and not just thumbnails.
Also, Wyze adds the campus to the timeline for those who are not subscribed as a form to let you know you can get more than just thumbnails.
No, that’s not what it is saying. If you check your SD card, you’ll see continuous video on it.
What you’re seeing has always been there, it is just telling you if you don’t want 5 minute cooldown, you need to subscribe. Advertisement basically. Cloud recordings technically can’t be “continuous” so even that is a bit misleading.
Just hit the “SD card” icon and your continuous recording will be there.
Do Pan-Cam V3’s qualify for Cam Plus Lite?
I know V3’s do but not sure about the pans, I may eventually drop cam plus unlimited for lite once the number of remaining Wyze cams gets low.
No the Panv3s can’t be used with Lite.
Ok, here’s what it shows when I select the SD card, which I did before, and it’s still showing no continuous video recorded. So, you were saying?
Can you provide the following:
- your SD Card Settings as well
- Your Detection Settings
- Your Notification Settings
Would like to get a full picture of what you have set.
It will also be useful if you could provide the App Version being used as well as the Firmware version of your Camera.
Thanks
Here’s my settings. I’ve had it on continuous recording to SD card since I got it. Haven’t needed to review any recordings on that camera for awhile. So I don’t know when it stopped working for certain.
Toggle on Record events based on Motion. See if that helps out. I realize, that this should not be needed, but this is a test to see what happens.
I have that on, but I also have Cam Unlimited. However, before I got Cam Plus / Unlimited, I used an SD Card and made sure the Motion Events were on.
Also, based on your SD Card, you have some stuff recorded. You can go back on the dates to see when the last event was.
If nothing else works, try “Settings->Reset Services” it’s the Wyze workaround for everything!
My experience is that “Motion” has to be on for any of the other recording features to work on the V3, so I think this is the answer.
I have been having exact same issues as Itbedave for several weeks now. Have tried everything including reset etc to be able to see sd card Video recordings but only getting thumbnails same. Software/firmware appears to have changed so that we are being forced to pay for a subscription rather than just being able to record to sd card & view via the app. So VERY disappointing.
No subscription is required for SD card recording.
How are you trying to view the videos? You mention a thumbnail which sounds like the event screen. On that screen, the play button is for cam plus cloud recordings (which won’t work without a subscription) but the “SD Card” icon should take you right to that event on your SD card. Note that there has been a bug where some people briefly see an error that there is no card or no recording, but then it plays. To avoid that you can go to the main camera live view and hit the SD card icon which should bypass that bug.
Thanks for reply @dave27 this does not work for me. I have tried over several days. I tap on Livestream, then SD card & all I get is “No video is available at this time”. I tap on an event then SD card & then SD card again & get same. I have tried everything possible & cannot watch videos from sd card. Can only see livestream video. No matter where I look, click, toggle, reset, uninstall etc. Record to SD card is on, I have tried continuous & just event recording - still same. Updates are latest. I never had a problem until a few months back & then sometimes it worked. Have swapped SD cards, still nada. Seems to be Wyze update at some stage has done this.
There have been some issues with the Panv3 and SD cards. Some are explained by the card slot getting damaged or dying, some seem to be some sort of software or firmware glitch.
My best suggestion would be to
Remove SD card and format in a PC using the formatter from sdcard.org
Delete the cam from the app
Factory reset the cam
Re-add the cam, but name it something slightly different (at least initially)
Re-install SD card
If all of that fails, if it is within a year, they will replace it under warranty
Thanks so much @dave27 will give that a go & report back tomorrow.
Unfortunately more than 12mths old so no warranty.
Thanks @dave27 I followed your recommendations exactly - twice & still had the issue. I then formatted the sd card again, this time from within the Wyze App & did a “Reset” as well from within the App & it is currently working. Hopefully its not just temporary. Thanks again
The “reset services” button is a bit of a mystery. It is supposedly just for cam plus stuff but it does seem to sometimes clear up other things.
I have a camera that I’m using for something temporary that has a known failing SD card in it, just what I happened to have around. It can record about 1 day before it starts erroring out. If I forget to format it every morning, when it does error out, it takes a bunch of things (several reboots, reset services, format a couple times, etc) to get it working again. It seems once these cams see an issue with the SD card they can sometimes get a bit “stuck”. But sounds like you got it unstuck. If it happens again it might be a sign that your SD card is failing.
