How well exclusion zones work in a camera with panning capability? In a fixed camera the view is same and exclusion zone work well. But if I set an exclusion zone in a panning camera. When it moves and changes view the excluded items are in the non-excluded zone.
Detection zone/exclusion zone is effectively inoperative when you have pan/scan or motion tracking enabled.
It serves a couple minor functions like giving the camera a “home” position to automatically return to, and when in that home position, it will limit what it records/logs, but it will NOT limit what it tracks (and since motion outside the zone will cause it to move, it ends up recording/logging it anyway).
I’ve found it effectively useless (other than giving me that home position so if I forget to return it home, it will do it on its own).
I believe there are a couple wishlist topics around this but not really expecting them to gain much traction.
This is the harsh reality and I wish someone had given it to me back when I first was working with them, now that I know the limitations, I just live with them and don’t worry about trying to tweak things.
I can’t say 100% for sure the sensitivity doesn’t affect panning but in my experience, it does not (or makes very little difference).
This seems accurate, at least in my limited testing with setting Motion Detection Sensitivity to 1 and seeing the camera view pan toward me when I moved barely into frame with Track Motion enabled, then repeating the test with the setting at 100 and seeing similar results. It’s not what I would’ve expected, but then the Detection Settings screen in the app does not say anything about those settings having any influence on the Track Motion feature (though intuitively I would’ve thought otherwise).
I ran on that assumption for quite some time before realizing the motion tracking is not influenced at all by sensitivity, detection zone, etc.
Car headlights on the street that are way, way, way outside the DZ will cause it to track, and once it tracks outside the DZ, it logs an event because the DZ is either not in effect, or has been re-centered over that new area (not sure which).
I won’t say I’m 100% sure on the sensitivity as I did several tests and it was hard to tell but if it did make a difference, it wasn’t substantial enough to be of any use. DZ I am certain about.
