Cam Pan v3 factory reset not working after RTSP

In 2025 after AWS blackout I decided to add rtsp to half of my 14 wyze cameras as redundancy for access. In December the wyze rtsp app had gone into a login loop and the original wyze app would only show error code-36. I have attempted to factory reset the cameras and also add firmware to the SD card. Attempts have failed and I am not able to get past Wyze AI to get support. The only thing I receive had been an email confirming a log number and that Noone would contact me. Does anyone know how to correct the error (code-36)

Which RTSP firmware, the old unsupported one or the newer beta one?

What Wyze RTSP app are you referring to?

What standard wyze app version are you running?

If all you’re trying to do is flash back to standard firmware, you need a 32GB or smaller SD card, formatted to FAT32, and place the file in the root of the card with nothing else on it (no folders or other files) and make sure it is named what the instructions say.

I had used the newer RTSP firmware in 2025. I have WYZE 32 gb cards all flashed to FAT32. The wyze app is v3.9.0 (739). I’ve attempted with the flash back to the original firmware downloaded from wyze site. I have also attempted to do their recommended reboot without the sd card inserted. I receive this error after each attempt.

That’s just a generic error for the most part.

I’d try a factory reset (unplug, remove SD card, hold power button for like 15+ seconds while plugging power in), they try going through the manual firmware process again. Note that in the instructions for the V3 it mentions a ā€œfolderā€ but ignore that. You want to name the file what they say, and just put that file in the root of the SD card. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to get it to ā€œtakeā€ but you should know when it does.

Then you’ll need to go through the process to re-add it to the app again. I’d actually say delete it from the app first just in case there are any settings or cache in there related to the beta RTSP firmware. And even try naming it something slightly different so it doesn’’t try to inherit any previous settings. You can rename it back after it is online and good.

If possible it may make sense to bring the cam in near your router while doing this just in case this is some sort of wifi issue too.

Thank you! The one thing I did not do is delete the camera before all of the attempts. I’ll let you know once I have the chance to try it again

After deleting the cam, you can go into the app settings and do ā€œdelete cacheā€ and also do that in your Android OS App settings under the wyze app, just to be extra sure. Or totally uninstall and reinstall the app which will do the same, but that probably isn’t needed.

The fact that you’re getting that error and not a ā€œcamera is offlineā€ message means that it is visible in some way, but hard to say if it has successfully gotten the regular firmware back or not. Did it seem to go through the manual firmware process correctly? Could just be a matter of deleting and factory resetting it at this point.

No success. I removed the sd card. Deleted and reinstalled the wyze app. I had gone through the setup, changing the name of the camera. And still received the same error (code-36)

I noticed the rtsp option is still available in the options. I am not using the rtsp app nor do I want to

That would imply the manual firmware process didn’t work, so focus on that. Like I said, sometimes it takes a few tries to get the timing right.

I’d like to thank you for your help. Unfortunately after an hour nothing has changed.

Does the cam appear to be going through the firmware process (following the light colors listed in the instructions etc)?

Are you able to re-add it to the app fine and just not view it? I wonder if it is automatically updating you back to the beta firmware after it connects to the internet. You can disable automatic updates, and/or check the properties to see what version it says it has.

All that being said, the latest app version should work fine with the RTSP firmware. But all 7 or your RTSP cams aren’t working and the 7 without it are?

Correct all 7 that I had changed to allow rtsp stopped working correctly sometime mid December. The rtsp app also had gone into a login loop not allowing me access. The offical or original wyze app still worked but continue to give the code-36 error. Since then I have been trying to rollback what I have done so I could use them as they had been originally intended and not loosemy investment. Rather than just reading i decided to look for help in this forum. To see if I had missed something. With the exception of deleting cameras before re adding them. I had done everything else. Im left with my v4’s. All of my pan v3’s are paper weights. Im at a loss

Are these Panv3 or regular v3? I don’t think there was an RTSP firmware for the Panv3 (maybe wrong on that, thought they were focusing on the v3 at first)? Are you using the correct firmware file to try and recover them? v3 and Panv3 are not the same.

There is a file fir the pan v3 @ RTSP for v3 and Pan v3 there you’ll see ā€˜WyzeDave’ (wyze team) provided a link to the files and instructions for installation. Everything worked fine until the wyze rtsp app went into login loop. After everything stopped working correctly

And you’re definitely using the Panv3 recovery file and instructions?

Have you also downgraded the app to the non RTSP version? Though I guess if your other cams are working it shouldn’t be the app but who knows.

You may want to ask in that thread, maybe there is a special recovery/flash procedure to get off the RTSP firmware.

Thank you for the suggestion I’ll tackle that in the morning. And again thank you for your help in this thread

It shows you do not have the RTSP turned on, but the option is built into the firmware if you have fairly recent firmware. Anyone will have the option available to use it.

What firmware version does the camera now have?

Attempting to use recovery-wyzepan3_4.50.15.5336.bin

That was not the question. What version does the camera currently show that it has?
