Cam Pan v3 factory reset not working after RTSP

The camera has 4.50.16.5055. I am getting stuck here. Then after a short time I receive error (code-36)

Welcome to the Forum, @gdpaige533!

Have you tried updating to 4.50.16.5654? This is an OTA β update that should resolve the “Failed to connect. / Error: (code -36)” message you see in the current production Wyze app. You may need to navigate in the app to  Account ➜ About ➜ Beta Program ➜ Wyze Cam Pan v3  ➜ Save in order to enable the beta firmware update for that Cam type, then navigate to a Cam Pan v3’s Device Info screen and try to do an individual firmware update from there.

Thank you, I downloaded the beta and updated. Now I have live view and camera controls back.

You’re welcome, and I’m glad that worked for you. I realize that you said this:

I think since the RTSP feature has made it to the regular public beta channel and is likely to be included in the production firmware going forward—and since you were willing to try the flashed RTSP beta firmware earlier—this path of updating the Cam Pan v3’s firmware to the latest public beta at this point probably makes the most sense. If you decide that you want to get back into the production firmware channel for this Cam in the future, then you can always uncheck the beta firmware option ( Account ➜ About ➜ Beta Program ➜ Wyze Cam Pan v3  ➜ Save), and that should make sure that only firmware versions in the production channel are offered to you unless/until you decide to change back to beta. I think since you’re on the latest beta firmware for this Cam now, then unchecking means you won’t be offered another firmware version until the next superseding production firmware version is released, and I have no idea when that will be.

To prevent similar app/firmware mismatch situations in the future, you can do a couple of other things:

  1. Navigate to Cam Pan v3’s  Settings ➜ Device Info ➜ Firmware Version and either make sure Automatic Update is set to Off or turn it off.
  2. Long-press the Wyze app’s launcher icon, select  App info from the pop-up menu, tap App details, select the menu in the upper-right corner of the app’s main page in Google Play Store, and then make sure Enable auto update is not checked.

Doing this would mean that you would have to manually approve app and firmware updates in the future, but I think a lot of community members already do this and then watch announcement topics in the Wyze News channel to see if other users report problems after new releases.

Thanks for taking the time to post an update! :+1:

Experiencing the same issue, I’m in the beta channel but am stuck on 4.50.16.5055
