I’ve been reading a lot of articles about this silicon shortage recently. Lots of businesses starting to have supply issues for these chips. Wyze’s announcement was so upfront and transparent weeks before anyone else I know. When Wyze got informed of this issue about to start affecting everyone, they could’ve just waited a couple of weeks and then joined some “me too” victim train, but the way I see it, Wyze jumped to the front, and let us know upfront this issue is coming down everywhere and here’s their proactive decision of how they’re going to deal with it. I like that. I don’t blame them for being stuck with a crappy situation. You can’t always control what happens to you, but you can control how you decide to respond to it, and I wish other companies were more upfront with me about these kind of things…but even though many of them have known this is an issue for them too, they just wait until someone else breaks the bad news and rides the victim coat-tails instead with most of them having no explanation at all how they plan to get through the situation other than point the finger and wait for it to change.
I acknowledge lots of people really dislike Wyze’s decision here. All I am saying is that I like
- that they proactively announced the issue weeks before I heard about it all over everywhere else
- they came up with a proactive business decision of something they could do to try to survive through this situation…an especially precarious situation for a company built on a model of low-profit margins with high volume…no longer having access to a high volume of their primary products means they need to figure something else to avoid theoretical total collapse.
Nobody says the solution is great or ideal or perfect, maybe there were better choices and solutions and alternatives they could’ve taken. I don’t disagree with that on principle…but I am glad they chose to do something besides sit around complaining and victimstancing that it’s not fair, not their fault and just wait around for things to change. I don’t have to love every decision Wyze Makes, but the fact they took these steps proves they have some better leadership than most of the other companies that have no communication and take no personal responsibility to do something about the situation they find themselves in. That’s why Wyze will continue to survive through this, if not thrive and reap a harvest in the long term. As a person who has owned multiple businesses myself, I say, well done Wyze leadership.
Very well said!
Thank you.
Wyze has a couple of free V3s waiting to ship to ya, no Cam Plus order needed ![]()
Ha! No thanks. I got all the cams I need already (22…18 of them with Wyze…3 Eufy and 1 from another company…without Wyze’s awesome prices and features I’d struggle to justify having any more than a very few cams total); add to that my 6 Cam Plus subscriptions and my WiFi literally can’t handle any more cams without constantly crashing the 2.4gHz SSID even more and upsetting my wife and brother-in-law. ![]()
I don’t need any special deals, and I’m not looking for handouts (the last time I contacted support I was 100% upfront that an issue was my fault, not theirs nor covered under their warranty at all, and I offered to pay for the things I needed to resolve an issue…it’s not about any of that for me, I’m fine without any special treatment). Just speaking my mind as I see it, having been involved in multiple businesses myself. No company is perfect, and I certainly get stuff from some of Wyze’s competitors too (as I said, I have 3 Eufy cams for the free local PD, and other things too), but overall I’m pretty satisfied and want to support the changes they have been driving into the conventional market. I’ve seen things shift for the better in tons of ways all over the place as Wyze launches their disruptions. That’s all good for everyone IMO.
Permanent felt tip marker & you can have any color you want.
yes indeed: Bring Back Wyze Cam Black - #127 by YetAnotherDave
Works fine indoors. Fades over time outdoors ![]()
Looks good. Has anyone done this with a V3 with picts to show?
I absolute love the Wyze products. I’ve bought about $400 worth of stuff over the years. I’d buy more if it was really available. But we order something and its months before it ships. And to add more injury, you ship using FedEx Smartpost. It takes a month to travel to Hawaii, the same distance from your warehouse across the U.S. Bottomline, simply getting the product after we purchase it is terrible.
Just don’t order “pre-order” or “early access” products anymore and you’ll be a lot happier and 90% of your above issues will no longer apply…except for the crappy FedEx Smartpost, which I also hate.
Think of pre-order/early access as something that isn’t an officially launched product yet. If you keep to only ordering older products that are fully in stock in their regular warehouse, you won’t be as frustrated and annoyed anymore. Just think of newly launched products as things that are being previewed and tested, and once the early access is all done and they have a running inventory in their warehouse, then it’s an actual launched product at that point. I think a lot of people have a misunderstanding of the difference between fully warehoused products vs pre-order/early access products…they’re totally different. Maybe Wyze should separate them into 2 categories on their website or something to avoid so much confusion and frustration from otherwise satisfied customers.

Exactly!!! Well said!
Thank you for putting it so diplomatically!
Pre-ordering is an experience for the patient and adventurous.
It is not synonymous with retail selling.
It is for those willing to take a bet on the future, with the projected date of delivery being an optimistic guess subject to changes.
If you want a Wyze product “now,” choose only from products currently available for RETAIL sale. NOT pre-orders.
I’ve been waiting for Wyze V3 to go out of preorder to available for months.
Seems crappy you cannot purchase one here but there are endless ones being sold on auction sites at 2-3x markups so many who are getting them are just reselling them.
Getting toilet paper vibe from last year with that.
I hope Wyze can get production issues addressed soon.
We just bought 4 of them on ebay there not a bad price compared to other brands.
I just now was going to order because I saw them in stock and 2 seconds later it was gone…
I just looked at 708am and the V3 were in stock its the same as last time 1 half to buy 1 cam plus and then you can add the plain V3 into the cart
When some of the V3’s came into stock a month or so ago, I bought one with the cam plus subscription, and 3 additional. So, I DO have a cam plus subscription.
Today, I wanted to add 2 more cameras, but when I add it to my cart, it says “whoops, looks like you are not a cam plus subscriber”.
I don’t understand this. (This is in addition to my pre-order of the security system which ASLO includes a cam plus subscription).
Is this a glitch? How can I order the v3’s at the $19…99 price?
Interesting what i did was log into my account first, then went and bought a few V3
yes, I did exactly that. But it still wants to make me pat for cam plus with the first V3 in the cart.
Thats correct you must buy 1 with the come plus…so we did and it worked just fine, then you will get the code with the link for the plus code we did notice that after you redeem the code you can cancel it and get credit back.
