Bulbs stop working, no support

Wyze seems to me to be a very low budget company operating on a shoestring. When they have a serious problem they ignore it. Most people move on to new suppliers. Wyze works off of the fact there are 8 billion people in the world and they can afford to irritate a few and those folks will move on. The old ignore the problem and it will go away. I quite using the products they have except certain cameras. If you are thinking these would be good for security they will more than likely show you what happened but not soon enough to alert someone. Kind of like the police, they show up after the fact. Sometimes they don’t even alert you. They will capture the video but no alert, that is really not to helpful. I had 3 products that became worthless. First were the original sensors, I took that as a learning experience but when Wzye bricked the 1st ver. battery cam,WOC, and refused to accept blame and fix the issue that became personal. I no longer can in good faith recommend their products. Then they bricked the 1 ver. Wyze bulb, 2019ver. That sealed the deal. If you notice there is a pattern. 1st versions quit working after updates whether it is the device or the app they quit working and wyze accepts no responsibility. They like to blame everything else, routers, phones etc. If their products are that susceptible to change then don’t make the change. To bad Meross does not make cameras because there stuff seems to be very durable and they very seldom update the firmware and app but then again if you do it right the 1st time there is no reason to update.

Any news?

I had one that I didn’t update now reporting 1.2.0.382 as the latest firmware. So at least a silent ack of any upgrades going forward

I’ve been having this same exact problem with my Wyze bulb. This happened in June and I haven’t been able to get it to reconnect to the app. Nothing changed when this happened although most of my cameras and all of my lights disconnected from the app on their own at the same time. I’ve been able to reconnect everything but my Wyze white bulb. Ive tried everything and nothing is working. Now it only works as a regular dumb bulb

Nothing will work. This is the low budget way of Wyze discontinuing a product. Then they ignore all contact with anyone that complains about it. Do yourself a favor and buy Meross bulbs, they don’t mess with the firmware because they get it right the first time.

Bump because I have 13 bulbs that are broken now too.

Perhaps wyze will send us all a small bronze statue of a hand flipping the bird, because that’s about how much they care about the issue.

I am having the same issue. Still no resolution? I was considering adding new components to my home system since I just moved but maybe I need to look for a new company.

It would seem that nothing will be done. I have definitely been affected, the only thing I have been warry of is buying the bulbs instead opted for Govee bulbs, but the cameras and locks at wyze have not been an issue along with smart power sockets which get dragged out once a year for Christmas decorations

Anything?

I had to put mine on storage because the stopped working. Please someone update the thread if they ever fix it.

I had a bunch of them. Power went out and when it was restored my bulbs didn’t. It was then I read this post from many many people, all going through the same thing.

With all the posting, there were only two things missing. A fix and a response from Wyze. The latter being the loudest.

With that said, it must be said that this isn’t the first time something like this has occurred.

A few years back, they sold the Wyze sense motion sensor. A handy little tool that I utilized in many locations and still do.

To use this sensor, you needed a v2 camera and a small hub that plugged into the back of the camera.

The problem with this device, is that when the sensor’s button battery died. The sensor lost it’s programming and were bricked.

There was a battery indicator in the app, but it always said the battery was fine, until it wasn’t.

It was a known issue, and they kept selling them.

It’s just a fact of life with this company. They are a little boy playing in a big man’s game.

My suggestion is to purchase the new Wyze bulbs, and then return the old bulbs to them.

My 3 driveway color bulbs stopped connecting with this latest update of the app. Just spent an hour trying to get them to work, they connect, but then I can’t control them, change colors, etc. Not effing around with this any longer. As some have posted, this is a known issue that the company refuses to fix. I have a Ring doorbell, alarm and 2 cameras - older than wyze and working fine. Tomorrow throwing my wyze cameras, bulbs and thermostats in the trash and heading to amazon to replace. I don’t have time to screw around with junk from a company that doesn’t give a [Mod Edit] once the sale is made. Adios…

Buy some Meross bulbs. Easy to setup. They got the software right the first time so no need for continuous updates therefore they continue to work. I have around 30+ of there automation devices and none have failed. It has been years. Can’t say that for WYZE. I just wish they made cameras.

I am giving up and throwing in the towel on the horrid Wyze bulbs! I can’t take the HOURS to mess with them with nothing helping. Current issue. I have some color bulbs (4) in my bedroom. My Internet was down a few hours for maintenance. When It came back, all my MANY Wyze lost their minds - and I did too!

Re: the 4 bulbs in the bed room (they all had current firmware)…after restarting the modem, re-powering my wifi, restarting my phone and app - AND turning all the power to the bulbs off for a while and back on…still NONE of the bulbs would reconnect. I finally gave up and reset each bulb. They all worked for a few minutes, then 2 went offline. They are all within a few feet of each other and connected to the same wifi but looking at device info, two bulbs have excellent strength (4 bars) and the other two barely have 1 bar and won’t function. I even tried resetting them one more time.

All of them will work for a while, then go offline. half in a group will suddenly stop. Sometimes they just come back online by themselves, most times they don’t. I really, really tried giving them a chance - over and over again. I hate giving up, but I am done, I am fried.

So again, thanks for the recommendation. I have too many bulbs and some require me to climb a ladder to remove them and that’s a PAIN. I can’t continue to waste my time with those Wyze bulbs that are just pieces of shiny garbage that irritate me and have obviously made me insane - and I’m sure that’s obvious by this message.

I’ll try the Meross bulbs. I have some Phillips bulbs and they are a bit of a pain to set up but they have NEVER gone offline. I really want to continue to be a Wyze enthusiast, but it’s nearly impossible anymore. Even my cameras have gotten unreliable and I can’t continue to spend all the time making them work again. Thanks again for the recommendation of the Meross bulbs! The old white bulbs as well as the new, and the big bulbs, all present problems that I don’t have time for and I’m done waiting for Wyze to take care of it. I’m just sorry I bought two more four packs about three months ago. I’ll give them away to someone. I don’t like, lol – 'tis the season.

Just curious try unscrewing one of the bulbs for a few seconds then screwing it back in, I bet you can connect it back then.

I have several of the 2019 white bulbs on the 384 firmware that stopped working when I changed network names. I have been working with support for the past few weeks and they issued an update that worked last night. I am now able to connect the bulbs and use the app to control them. They said the binding fix should be for everyone and just rebinding/pairing the bulb should fix it. Hopefully some of you will have the same luck.

Thanks for the info! I just tried rebinding the one that wasn’t working for me, and it is now online again. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Sounds like they fixed something behind the scenes, because the current firmware is still .384.
