About 6 months ago I was running my V3’s on the old firmware that supports RTSP.
I was successfully running them under Zone Minder.
I was gone for about 6 months and it seems the software has changed. Now it reports all my cams are not set up for RTSP. It challenges me to “waive” RTSPS security with a checkbox and accept/decline buttons.
The “accept” button is greyed out, and I can’t “accept” because the “waiver” checkbox is unresponsive.
I’d say that’s an obvious bug. .
I’ve asked if Zone Minder supports RTSPS in the ZM forums but I don’t think it supports RTSPS.
I hope this can be fixed in the next software release.
What is prompting you to waive it? It sounds like Zone Minder, not the Wyze app? The old (insecure, no longer supported) RTSP firmware probably doesn’t even support RTSPS, so if Zone Minder is requiring it now and not letting you bypass it, you’d need to work with them to figure that out.
Are you reporting what you believe to be a ZoneMinder bug in the Wyze Forum and expecting Wyze to fix ZoneMinder’s software? That’s kind of how your post reads unless I’m missing something.
What’s preventing your use of the newer Cam v3 β firmware that supports RTSP and RTSPS? (See RTSP BETA RELEASE FOR v3 and Pan v3! & RTSP for v3 and Pan v3 for details.) Presumably that includes security patches that have been incorporated into the firmware since the time that the older unsupported firmware you’re using was released.
Nevermind, I’ll try the new beta firmware and beta software and have every expectation it will work just fine.
And I did get the waiver button to work in the software. Now it complains of losing the connection to the camera but I hope the new beta firmware fixes that up.
To set the record straight ZoneMinder supports RTSP and I don’t know if it supports RTSPS. The developers are quick to respond to questions so I should know in a day or 2.
If it does, then replying in one or both of the current topics (linked above) about the new RTSP testing might be helpful to the community. Wyze’s main page about testing has a table listing some compatible third-party software, but ZoneMinder isn’t there.
Still not clear what the issue is. Nothing has changed with the old Wyze RTSP firmware in years, so it sounds like if ZoneMinder is prompting you about RTSPS and asking you to “waive” it, they are the ones who are now trying to enforce it, so it sounds like they definitely support it. Sounds like they’re the ones who have done updates to their software.
If that’s the case, and the new Wyze beta firmware supports RTSPS, it should in theory work much better.
