Blurry face

I just hooked up my Wyze V4 and the picture is clear. The night vision is also clear. However, when I walked into the backyard today to test out it’s motion sensitivity, it’s picked me up fine, nice and clear. When I turned around to walked back to the house, my body was clear but it had my face blurred out. Why? Is this something I can change and why does Wyze do this? It wasn’t dark yet.

Sounds like compression, when things are moving they can become blurry and sometimes it doesn’t make sense about what is/isn’t blurred as it depends on the complexity of the object in question (face is more complex than clothing for example).

Wyze and all cloud cams use a ton of compression to reduce the size of the upload to the cloud and also the throughput requirements of your wifi. That being said, usually someone walking slow and straight is usually pretty clear for me. Another thing that can impact it is if your wifi signal or throughput are poor, it will compound the issue, now you’re dealing with compression and lost data.

This isn’t a feature you can control or change, other than trying to get a better signal to the cam if that is part of the problem. Sometimes changing your wifi channel or orientation/placement of your router is all that is needed.

Were you looking at live view or recorded? That may help narrow it down.

I was looking at stored video. I was thinking that Wyze blurs faces for some reason. I guess the compression theory is more likely

No, they don’t do any intentional blurring.

Doesn’t blur out the mail carrier delivering two packages.
