Battery Cam Pro missing rotate option in app

no option in app

reading there is no option

2x cameras not usable for my needs and cant return.

Can you clarify what you mean by no rotate option? I know that when live streaming, you can turn the phone and it becomes landscape. Are you looking for a 180 degree flip, as the other cameras have?

yeah the cameras firmware doesnt offer the 180 degree rotate option like the others have so I can mount the camera upside down in a spot that allows and then rotate the video so that I can see it rightside up.

Why not physically rotate the camera so it’s right side up again? Unlike the other Wyze cameras, BCP’s mounting hardware should allow you to do that.

I think that’s why there’s no 180° flip option; there’s no need.

That cam is not supposed to be mounted upside down as it will allow water to get into the battery/SD card area. That’s why they don’t give you the option, they’d be encouraging you to do something you’re not supposed to. It is basically the same shape whether right-side up or upside down, why would it need to be upside down?

It needs to be able to be mounted upside down because some people have to do that to mount it under a soffit (roof overhang) why not make the feature available in a firmware/software update?

A software update will not prevent water from getting into the cam, I already gave the reason the feature is not available in the post above.

[MOD EDIT]
I Just want the ability to rotate the video. 180° there will be no water infiltration under a soffit.

I thought all wyze cameras had the ability to rotate the image 180 degrees. If I knew this particular camera didn’t have this feature I wouldn’t have purchased it. I may still return it.

People want this feature for exactly the reason I’ve given.

[MOD EDIT]

Water absolutely can get in under a soffit, have had it happen to me even with a cam rated for upside down use. They are NOT going to put an option in the app that will result in people damaging their cams and needing warranty replacements. If it is under a soffit, just get a regular powered cam that is rated for upside down use, like the v4 (though I’d still recommend putting some electrical tape or similar over the SD card slot and setup button areas). Run the power cable in through the soffit somewhere.

Or mount the BCP a bit lower so that it can be mounted right side up under the soffit and still see what you want to see. Though I’m a bit confused why you’d want to mount a battery cam in what sounds like a hard to access place, the battery has to be removed and charged from time to time, unless you have a decent size solar panel and lots of sunlight.

I purchased the solar panel for just this reason.

I vote that Wyze should have included the Rotate Image 180.
Who said the camera has to be outdoor?
The camera could be inside a shed/building out in a field somewhere, that does not have electricity and needs a solar panel.

I have several other outdoor battery cams from another company and they all have the rotate (Flip) option.

You will still likely need to charge the battery from time to time.

Mount it right side up. There is no option in the app to rotate the image on that cam and there likely never will be.

Why does it have to be upside down? The camera is basically the same shape either way.

If you need it to be upside down, unfortunately I’d probably just return it. I don’t see them adding that option in the app, even if they did, it would be a long time to get it implemented.

The fact that water can get in if the camera is mounted inverted is not mentioned anywhere in the sales literature for this camera so that’s false advertising, The camera is advertised as being an outdoor camera Dave.

Here’s what IP 65 means

Is IP65 enough for heavy rain?

Yes, IP65 is waterproof enough for heavy rain. This rating means it’s waterproof against rainfall, sprayed water, and water jets. It can handle wind-driven rain, slanted downpours, and water splashing and spraying from the roof or ground.

So if the BCP can’t handle rain inverted it should be mentioned on the web site.

Again false advertising if I have to remove the battery to charge EVEN IF I use the solar panel.

[MOD EDIT]

What do you want me to tell you - IP ratings are when installed in accordance with the instructions. Does the website show you the cam mounted upside down, or claim that it can be mounted upside down? If not, then there is no false advertising.

I may not be telling you what you want to hear but I’m telling you what your only options are. It isn’t as simple as just inverting the image and popping up a warning saying ā€œthis will void your warrantyā€. They’d also have to totally reverse all the PIR motion sensing logic and settings.

This cam can’t be mounted upside down. I can’t change that for you, can only answer your question, and the answer is ā€œnoā€.

[MOD EDIT] No Context as the previous post was modified

Nowhere does it say the solar panel will guarantee the battery will always be charged. How much sunlight you get in that area will impact it, as will the settings you choose on the camera, and even a cloudy day or two.

I think you need to set your expectations to be a bit more realistic, again, this is nothing to do with false advertising, no claims have been made, you seem to have implied them yourself.

The setup can be made to work, and work well, but only if you accept that there are limitations to battery and solar tech. Personally, I wouldn’t want a battery cam, the detection is delayed, you have to sacrifice a lot of features, etc. Hardwired is cheaper and a lot more fool proof. But the BCP can serve a purpose, obviously when there is no option for hard wired power it is better than nothing (and better than many of the previous battery cams).

[Mod Edit]

I’ll find a way to ask for a feature enhancement that should have been there in the first place.

That will just lead you to be more frustrated. I may not be telling you what you want to hear, that is not my purpose to placate and mislead you. I’m telling you what the facts of the matter are so you can make an informed decision on how to proceed. If mounting the cam upside down is a requirement, you should return the cam and solar panel while still in the return window and look at other options. This is not a feature that will be added anytime soon (and most likely never will be).

Here is the Wishlist area, that you can post your suggestion:

I’ll have to agree with @dave27 on the fact that the Wyze Battery Cam Pro most likely isn’t designed to be mounted upside down.

I am not a Wyze Employee, just another user with, in this case, four Wyze Battery Cam Pro’s (all connected to Wyze Solar Panels)

There really is zero need to attack anyone on these forums personally, as you have done with Dave.

ā€˜Attack’ the issue, not a user.

To Attack this issue, the Wyze Wishlist is your target, post there and/or contact Wyze Support on this issue.

This is a user to user forum, with Wyze Employee’s participating occasionally.

There is a great group of users here that are more than willing to go above and beyond to help where they can, and refer to Wyze Support (or the wishlist) as needed.

I watched this How to Install Wyze Battery Cam Pro YouTube video and on the following screen capture of mounting it on a wall, I would move the mount down to where the top of the camera cleared the soffit. Is that an option for you?

To better understand your use case, can you post a picture of where you are needing to mount this camera upside down?
