I just purchased 2 outdoor cameras, which come with a base station. It’s asking me to hook it up directly to my router, which I have done. My question is, does it have to be connected after camera set up or can this be wireless after setting up the cameras?
Ethernet is not required, and the base station can be wifi.
Welcome to the forums! After the initial setup over the ethernet cable, you can add the wifi information and once its ready, unplug the ethernet cord.

After set up with the ethernet you have to go to the base on the app, tap the gear icon top right, go to device info>change connection to switch it to Wi-Fi
