Hi - I can’t for the life of me find this automation combination.
Occasionally I leave the house and forget to close the garage door. I don’t realise until I get back and the garage door is still open (silly me). Initially I used the automation for closing the door IF i was 500ft away from the house which worked fine until I forgot my phone one time.
Does anyone know where this setting is? Seems too rudimentary to not have it there?
I don’t have that specific product, so I can’t speak directly to whether or not the feature you’re asking about actually exists, but you mentioned Automations, so even if there’s no direct “door open timeout” feature available in the app, you could automate something like this with a spare Wyze Plug or Plug Outdoor outlet, since those support Has been on for triggers. You could set up a Plug (so that it’s connected to power and Wi-Fi; it doesn’t have to have anything plugged into it, because the object is to just use it as a logical switch) and a couple of Device & Service Trigger Automations:
When you open your garage door, have that trigger an Automation that turns the Plug on.
A second Trigger would fire when Wyze Plug Has been on for X minutes, and the Actions would be to turn that same Plug OFF (to reset it for the next time you open the garage door) and to close the garage door.
That should be one way to do it, I’d think, but I don’t have the Garage Door Controller, so I can’t say for sure what kinds of Actions and Triggers are exposed for that product. That’s probably where I’d look next, though.
No apology is necessary. I understood from your original post and topic tags what you’re using (so good job with that! ), which is why I wanted to be explicit in stating that I don’t have those, so I don’t know what features the Wyze app makes available for the Garage Door Controller, but I believe the method I described would work if you have a Plug and can’t accomplish your goal with the Cam v3 and Garage Door Controller alone.
I also wanted to welcome you here and bump your topic because it’s been out there for four days without a response.
