I have a leak sensor which detected a leak and triggered an audible alarm. In my case, push notifications to my phone are sufficient and I wish to disable audible alarms for leak and climate sensors. I do NOT have a Monitoring subscription. I cannot find any way to disable the audible alarm other than deleting the sensor, which defeats the purpose of the sensor. Any suggestions?
Edit: Deleting the leak sensor did not silence the audible alarm either.
Same thing happened tonight with us at our cabin. Slight drip under sink and the hub was a-blarin. Scared all of us half to death, I thought the place was burning down.
Just like you, no HSM, and looking thru all the settings, no way to stop the alarm remotely. Had to unplug the hub and remove the sensor and dry it completely to get it to turn off.
Without HMS there settings that are unavailable on multiple sensors. Another is that you cannot turn of the contact sensor notifications. I setup a WishList request to fix this, but no interest from Wyze in doing anything…no subscription revenue I guess.
Wyze states that you can use the Hub and sensors without a Monitoring Plan, but if you don’t pay for the Monitoring plan you can’t turn off a blaring audible alarm? I might as well throw out the leak and climate sensors I have then …
I stopped using Wyze Contact and Motion Sensors because of this. I have one or two motions sensors I still use because they don’t set off any alarm or sound on the hub like the contact sensors do. Moved to YoLink for most of those sensor needs including water/leak sensors.
I do have Home Monitoring subscription, and after several calls from Noonlight about one of my leak sensors I decided that a push notification was enough and removed the sensors from the alarm configuration.
On 5/28 the alarm was triggered by a leak. Again, the sensors are not configured to trigger the alarm.
On this occasion, the system armed by itself (ARMED AWAY) at 4:36 AM. Of course, waking up to the sound of the alarm is not nice, After checking that the whole issue was caused by a leak sensor, I reviewed the configuration again. No sensor is configured to trigger the alarm.
I discovered that unplugging the hub doesn’t work since there is a battery backup built-in and the alarm will sound every 10 minutes until the battery dies. I unplugged the hub and used a towel to muffle the alarm. Curious … how do you reset the hub?
