Leak sensor finally barked after all these years, cleaners mopped that bathroom floor with a little too much enthusiasm. So far so good.
But then I couldn’t figure out how to clear the alert. Nothing in the app. Nothing at the device. Quick click of the hub, nada. Even tried deleting the device, nada. Finally held the button down on the hub long enough to reset it, and that turned off the fire alarm level beeping. Whew.
Why isn’t there a button in the app’s alert to let you say, “OK thanks, I got it, you can shut up now?” Did I miss it?
I totally agree - why doesn’t holding the button on the sensor for a few seconds reset the sensor and end the bleeping alarm? Like you, I had to reset the hub to get it to shut up after finding that even deleting the sensor didn’t stop the racket. It’s a significant design deficiency.
I just had a heavy rain, wherein some rain water leaked thru my whirly bird into my attic… into my pre-positioned bucket… which contains a wyze leak detector.
I also could not figure out how to turn OFF the alarm from the hub. I think the alarm stopped after I eventually got to the spot in the attic and dried off the sensor.
I then made the mistake of testing other leak sensors and went thru it again.
In the past, I routinely tested the leak sensors and never recall the hub alarm. It would just send a notification.
It happened again. The alarm did go OFF after approx 10 mins. I have that leak detector in my hazard remediation list, but do NOT get the same “Leakage Detected” popup. See pic #headscratcher
Wyze reports that ALL my software is up-to-date.
I presume we (including the others in this thread) found some sorta frustrating bug.
App version v2.50.7 (487) is installed. When I went to the google play store to see if an app update was available, it didn’t show in my list of apps. I had to search for it, which appears to show an available app update to version 3.8.1.718 …
This scenario is kinda bizarre to me, as I have a degree in computer science. I don’t know how I ended up with a Wyze app version that doesn’t seem to show in my list of installed apps within the google play store.
OK. We’ll sort your app issue out later. Please don’t update your app yet. Let’s first sort your issue with your inability to silence your hub when a leak is detected.
The Home Monitoring interface related to leak detectors, detection, monitoring, notifications and remediation hasn’t changed from your app version 2.50.7.x forward, all the way to beta 3.8.5.x.
We’ve established that you do have an active Home Monitoring subscription.
From whatever Wyze app version on whatever viewing device, please go to:
Wyze app Home > Monitoring (tab) > Home Monitoring Settings (down at the bottom) > Environment
All sensors related to Environment are divided into 2 groups:
Monitored Sensors
General Sensors
Under which of these 2 groups is your “attic East” listed?
If you want to be able to silence the hub from the Wyze app when your “attic East” leak detector detects a leak, you need to move that leak detector from general to monitored.
Just tap “Edit Monitored Sensor List”, find your “attic East” in the list, tap the checkbox to the right of that sensor, tap “Save” down at the bottom.
I’m willing to accept part of the bug finders’ reward with @BubbaATL and @fagerlie.
The non-current 2.50.7 (487) app software wyrks when the leak sensors are in the “monitored sensors” list, rather than the “general sensors” list. Note1: It is not intuitive to an end user the difference between those categories.
Note2: It may be helpful to also include the app itself in the “Firmware Update” section. The firmware update section gave me the false impression that ALL my firmware was up-to-date. This reminds me of the saying “when yur up to yer ass in alligators, it is hard to remember yur objective is to drain the swamp.”
Without home monitoring, how are we to disable/ack the sense hub alarm after being tripped by a leak detector? When I follow seapup’s instructions above, I have no settings under the monitoring tab in Wyze’s iOS app.
