App not loading live stream on some v3 cameras

The V3 Pro cameras have been the problematic ones for me.
Last night when selecting a V3 Pro camera from the camera group, I could NOT get into the “spotlight settings”. If I move it out of the group, I can get to that setting.
I can get to all the other settings when it is grouped except spotlight.
I don’t know if that is a 2.49/hotfix bug, I just needed to get into that setting last night.

I hardly ever use “spotlight settings” on my 4 V3 Pro cameras. So I tried it now, and it either closes the Wyze app or sometimes (random) it kicks me back to the home screen. I am on Wyze ver 2.49.1.390 and the cameras are all on ver 4.58.11.8391.

I tried ‘clear cache’ and restarting app, and then ‘clear data & cache’ and restarting app. Neither worked.

I think they need to create a checklist of things to test before releasing an App update.
Liveview works properly with all cameras
Playing from SD card works
Group functions work
Event Viewer returns properly to scroll position last accessed
Older Cameras like the V2, Bulbs, Wyze Sensors for V1 and V2 can still be added.
This list would probably have over 1,000 entries on it, and some could be automated!

They need a “lab” on the east coast with all the camera models to test firmware updates. Put a couple of each, and some with Iffy Wi-Fi connections. It is a PAIN for folks to climb ladders when firmware fails so they can reset or back off problematic firmware.

I know it is complicated, but we need better quality assurance, and I don’t think the beta program is getting us there. I am rooting for us all! Stay positive and optimistic!

Ok, I got this to work… clicked on a camera in the group I wanted change spotlight settings on. Waited for the camera to completely load (the date/timestamp was running correctly/smoothly… not jumping). Tapped the image to show the spotlight icon… when the icon spotlight showed it was on, I went into settings and successfully got into the “Spotlight Setting” and was able to change them. When I got out, in order to change the settings again; I had to got through the same routine. (turn spot on)… not acceptable, but it worked…

Thanks LenBradner!
Fortunately it is not a setting I have to mess with most of the time (probably why it was not tested). That solution is easier than pulling it out of the group, changing the setting, then putting it back into the group!
I just wanted to turn off the spotlight completely because it kept going off when car lights at night caused motion.
Good Luck!

I got the app to work twice today… I guess that’s an improvement over it not loading at all.

Why is it that in the past it was the web version that was having these issues, but now it’s the IOS app that won’t load? I am watching my camera on the web view right now, so I know that the camera and network it’s on it working just fine, it just won’t load in the IOS app no matter what I do. I tried restarting the app, I tried restarting my phone, I tried turning the wifi off and back on (which did work in the past, but hasn’t been working the past week). Everything is up to date, the firmware, my IOS (running the latest beta) and the app itself. This is a wyze app issue.

I have no idea if the people at wyze actually read these forums, but if you guys are, PLEASE fix whatever it is you guys did that broke the IOS app. This wouldn’t be as much of an issue if the web version allowed me to access Playback, events and also let me record and pan, but the web version does not have these functions for some reason.

Took two of the V3 cameras to another location and there is not problem. Have one V3 camera and that one takes a while to connect or it is in and out.

The Og cameras usually work pretty good.

This is what works for me when I cannot get into single camera live view:
Close the Wyze app.
Turn ON Airplane Mode
Turn OFF Airplane Mode
Open the Wyze app and connect to the live stream
I am on Android 14, but it is worth a try on IOS.
These V3 Pro cameras always stream fine from Web view, and from the camera group!
Good Luck

yes, I had tried this several times and sometimes it worked.

Though I updated the app last night and I think they fixed whatever the issue was because I can now use the app with no issues :woman_shrugging:

That is great news!

I just got the Android 14 February 2024 Security Updates/enhancements about an hour ago to my Pixel 6a, and the problem still persists.
I am glad the Airplane Mode toggle still works.

I’m having the same issues. The camera will show a still screen if it captures someone but when I go live I get nothing but the play button and the bouncing balls of eternal life. Very frustrating. The camera will show battery levels though.

Thanks for the info. Just tried it and still no go. I guess we get what we paid for…

Mind you, this only happens with the out door cameras running off the wireless antenna.

Are you talking about the Battery Cam Pro or the older outdoor battery cameras that had a hub?
Thanks!

WYZE is possible worst JUNK security camera ever. When you need to check your cameras it will 100% WILL NOT WORK. It will loads for minutes and timeout. If someone going break in your home WYZE is completely useless camera. Coming from SimplySafe to RING and to WYZE. None of those companies has loading issues. Time to change out these junk cameras.
