Already activated CAM V4, can original owner spy thru it?

I bought two CAM V4s from Home Depot. I installed the first one last night, it was missing the metal mounting plate and tape but I installed anyway. Today I opened the second one and found it was packaged within a plastic bag and with a plastic film over the lens, unlike my first one.

I just checked and the first one shows that it was activated 6 weeks ago so it seems it was returned (it had the seal on the outside of the package). Well, it seems to be working fine but is it possible that the original purchaser that activated it could now view thru it at my home?

I believe the previous user of that camera looses all access and cloud videos after you add the camera to your Wyze account. Here is discussion on when v3 cameras are stolen the original owner looses all access.

Hello I had a camera stolen from outside my shop V3 Indoor/outdoor it looks like the camera thieve has reset the camera and added it to there account causing it to be completely removed from my account and is no longer showing in my account and no way to access the cloud storage to see who took it. Please advise

Correct this security issue has not been resolved after months of wyze knowing about this.

I’d recommend returning it and getting a replacement. Your warranty coverage starts from the activation date. It’s obviously used.

If you have your receipt, reset the camera, box it up and take it back to Home Depot before ninety days.
