Alexa person notification from Wyze camera

Totally understandable. I honestly think this is an issue on the Amazon/Alexa side. During the process of the camera and the cam plus license being available it just doesn’t fully make the connection and this is a way to “goose”.

Alexa is finicky at best. When it works it works, when it doesn’t it’s a pain.

I agree with everything you just said!

Thanks for your help/inputs

the question is Yes I want the alert but not 97 times a day when I take the dog out to Pee, I only want the alert at 1 AM when I’m sleeping and wondering who is out side my camera view. How can you set a schedule for these verbal alerts?

Within Alexa, Cam Settings, if you have the Person Notifications toggle on, it will notify every time. The only way to avoid that is to place your Alexa devices in DND so they will not announce. However this is a global setting for that device so it will stop announcing ALL announcements regardless of the source. Much too drastic for some users.

Alternatively, you can turn off the Person Notifications toggle in the Cam Settings and create a Routine instead that has a schedule during specific days and hours that will announce any custom text you enter. You have the additional option for Alexa to play a special Tone before or after, wait a specified time to announce again, or trigger other devices to do something. You can also schedule it to announce once then suppress subsequent announcements for a set time. Unfortunately, this routine must be created for every individual cam.

Hi,

Does anyone know if Alexa can alert for motion, pets? I only see the option of person. I’m not sure why I can get it to alert to other type of movement as well. I get alerts on my phone when my pet is at the back door, but it’s annoying Alexa can’t give that information and only if there’s a person - for Wyze at least. My doorbell is a different company and it tells me when there is motion at the front door.

Yep. You have to go into the Alexa app to set it up. It’s fairly easy.

Interesting. Yeah my Alexa app only gives me the option to get notified for people from the Wyze cameras. I’ve updated my apps. Made sure the Wyze firmware is up to date. And the Alexa skill for Wyze refers to it as the robot vacuum so it’s no help either. I’ve read elsewhere a lot of people can’t get motion notifications. I think it’s an issue with Wyze and not with Alexa though.

Did you have her search for available items that can be added? t the bottom of the main page go to the borrow Ann click on devices, then hit the + in the upper right corner, “add device” in the popup window, then it’s pretty self explanatory from there.
