Alexa and Wyze cam v3

Simply put…Alexa says it’s not responding.

And yeah, disabled and re-enabled skill = nogo

Latest firmware = nogo

All my other Wyze cams work perfect with Fire TV, Echo Show, Fire tablet.

But not my V3.

Am at loss as have never encountered this and have 12 cams…V2’s and one Pan.

OK, what is not working? What are you trying to do via Alexa that relates to a camera?

Edit: Ah, you must have an Alexa with a display and are trying to see the video. I don’t have any Alexa devices with a display so was not even thinking that direction. I was trying to figure out what command you were trying to do for a camera via Alexa…

Just saw that you have to do some kinna acrobatics with Smart Detections Subscriptions…

Is this for REAL??

How do I get ALEXA to work with my WYZE cam V3…??? without BS…??

If you are trying to view the V3 cameras with Echo Show then try renaming the camera names in Alexa. I have several V3 cameras and they work fine with my Echo Show 5 (2019 1st gen) and Echo Show 8 (2019 1st gen & 2021 2nd gen).

If you are trying to enable Person Detection trigger with Alexa or Person Notification with Alexa, then I believe Cam Plus or Cam Plus Lite subscription is required.

You still have not stated what is not working. What are you trying to accomplish? We’re not mind readers.

Just trying to view my V3 via Alexa on my Amazon devices as I do with all my other Wyze cams.

Example:

Alexa, show wyze v3 camera…and she replies. sorry v3 cam isn’t responding.

All my other cams work flawlessly.

The thing works well in the Wyze app but NOT in Alexa.

Is this Rocket Science? :))

thx for help.

No, it’s not rocket science - AFTER you told us what was not working. Prior to that, you were expecting us to read you mind.

As I said before, I don’t have any Alexa devices with video, so I have no solution.

Often times, I too, forget to check the tags. It happens to the best of us. :grinning:

I just tried and my V3 cam is working fine with Alexa show Wyze south which is my cam name.

Sometimes when this happens. A on/off or reset or restart fixes it for me. Even though it is working in the app.
I usually try reset and restart first as I can do those from the app.

Very helpful, thx but no go. Gonna give away to poor kid on the block.

K6CCC, thx but spare your insults. DO NOT REPLY…useless waste.

Seems Wyze borked the firmware on the v3 (non PRO). Apparently they worked before the mandatory firm update.

Wyze should test a v3 non-pro with echo show or firetv or fire tablet. Alexa, show wyze v3 = camera is not responding.

@scouzi,

I have a v3 in my office. I just tested both a show 5 and show 8 with Alexa showing the v3 camera. In both tests, within about 8 seconds, I had a streaming camera.

I’m scratching my head why your seeing this only on your V3.

I don’t have a solution but I have seen Alexa do some strange things. Alexa devices shows I have over 70 devices. She does not forget. In reality I have about 40 devices online. I have one device, a show 5, that Alexa constantly shows off line. It’s not. I open the show 5, run a speed test etc.

Final thought. Alexa has been running in our house for at least 7 years(?). From time to time I have wanted to reset her devices list. There is a command to do that but for the life of me I can’t remember/find the command. I do remember a warning that if you do this it takes a while to do.

Anyway, food for thought.

Ya, command is: Alexa, discover new devices.
It sees my v3’s but when asked to display, it says that the cam ain’t responding.
What firmware are you using?
And, are you using the Non-Pro v3?

@scouzi,

Alexa, discover new…

Only looks for new devices. I’m looking for the command that wipes out all devices then rediscovers everything.

I’m on app ver 3.2.1 581. Following shot shows my V3.

Same firmware here. 4.36.13.0416

As to delete your devices, hope this helps:

@scouzi,

Arghhh. I had high hopes. I read the article. It looks like the mass command I’m looking for has been deprecated. Bummer.

Still thinking of possible solutions. So far nada.

You need a laptop or desktop:

That’s it!!!

Now we just have to see if the command is still there.

I’ll at least look for it today. I won’t do it until I think through the ramifications.

Good find

Just found out that the Alexa problem affects only the v3’s built in May 2023 and further on.

Older v3 models have different hardware that doesn’t exhibit the same behaviour.

Fix is to subscribe to CamPlus, which is kinna heinous from Wyze.

Needless to say, I will never buy another Wyze product unless Wyze fixes this issue.
