I’m a Cam Plus subscriber with multiple V4 cameras and I’ve run into a frustrating issue: since the app updated to version 3.9+, my V4 notifications no longer show images on my Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic.
The problem is that Cam Plus subscribers now receive animated GIF notifications instead of static images — and Samsung smartwatches don’t support GIF notifications, so nothing shows at all. My V3 cameras (without Cam Plus) still send static thumbnails and display perfectly on my watch.
I rely on my watch to quickly glance at what triggered the alert without pulling out my phone. That functionality is now completely broken for my V4 cameras, despite paying for Cam Plus.
I’d like to request that Wyze add a simple toggle in notification settings to choose between animated GIF and static image notifications. Many other users are reporting the same issue on the forums. A quick in-app option would fix this for everyone with a smartwatch.
Is there a way to go back to the static image notifications? With the static images I could see the image on my watch, now the watch notification is pretty useless. Add to that there is pretty big delay to load the GIF, it makes more sense to just open the app. With the static images 90% of the time I could determine what was going on without even opening the app.
I am having the same issues. Very frustrated with all the issues lately and wasting time to figure out. Rely on these notifications and want the issue resolved asap.
Update: Recently, I started seeing V4 camera alerts display a short image preview on my Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, which is really awesome.
However, if I do not look at my watch quickly, the image disappears. Before, the notification would remain as a standard alert.
Wyze team, are you currently working on improving this feature? I also noticed that if I tap on the image, nothing happens. If I miss the alert and go back to view it later on my watch, the image is no longer there.
Just wanted to share this feedback and see if this behavior is expected or something being worked on.
Is there a way to disable this and go back to the static picture preview? I don’t really find the GIF preview helpful and it often causes double notifications.
