I updated all of my V3 cameras to 4.36.14.3497 a couple days ago. I logged onto the app today to look at footage from a couple days ago and discovered that all of that footage had been erased on the sd cards and the only data there were the recordings from after I did the update. Is there any way I can recover the old data on the sd cards?
6 of my Wyze v3 cameras lost all data on sd card after updating the firmware to version 4.36.14.3497
What size are your SD cards?
Are your SD cards set to Continuous Recording or Events only?
How many days are considered “a couple of days”?
I have 32GB SD cards set to Continuous Recording and only get 3 days of video saved before the oldest videos get automatically over-written.
The SD cards are 512GB and they are set to continuous recording. I was only trying to go back to footage from 3 days ago.
I am stumped, 512GB should get you about a month of video.
Have you tried putting the SD card in to a computer to see if video is there and possibly not viewable within the App?
Yeah, put the SD card into my computer and there is no data of any of the days previous to me updating the firmware on Thursday. Could the firmware update have erased all previous data on the SD cards? I am also stumped. I would like to be able to recover the old data, I just don’t know of any way to do that.
Can you tell if most of the 512GB of the card has data? My thought is if say half of the SD card is being used, you might be able to recover files that somehow got deleted (but not over-written yet) with free file recovery tools.
So only around 20GB of the card has data on it right now. I’m gonna try some of those data recovery tools that you linked and hopefully I can recover at least some of the lost data that somehow got deleted. I really appreciate your help with that. Just out of curiosity, there has been some pretty bad lightning storms around where I live over the past week could a power surge or brief loss of power caused them to have lost all the data on the SD card?
Ontrack data recovery company says yes.
Are you sure the card is not a fake?
Same here. No SD card even showing in the app now. There’s another thread about firmware updates bricking the mem cards. It’s ridiculous. I wish I would have had auto update switched off.
