Wyze oh Wyze would they limit us so? Was working on an external antenna mod, and happened to notice the the little limit tab that prevents rotating the cameras a full 360 degrees. And I can’t figure out why. Why limit the rotation?
My assumption on this would be due to the wires going to the motor, if it did not have a stop it could spin round and round and twist the wires up, a stop makes it so it will not wrap. This is just my guess since I have not opened one.
This is the standard cam base, not the Pan cam. But this one now spins like a top if need be. ;p
Ok, then I do not know why they stopped it, no reason I can think of for why you would need it to stop
Probably because if you spin the cam around even though the internal wires are not a problem the power cord to the cam itself would wrap around? It would take an odd situation for that to occur but I think it would be possible? Don’t have one immediately accessible to check.
Exactly, which is why I took a sec and razored it off while I was there. Works perfectly. I think I noticed it because just the other day I was trying to aim one, and I couldn’t twist the base because of other objects, and I had set it just so to try and get around that (stupid) stop.
Unless it starts wind milling or something… I can’t fathom a reason.
If it starts windmilling on you I would leave the house immediately that things possessed. Lol
I have a cam I am about to do that to. It is on the fringe of how far my internet goes so it cuts out a lot. I see people having luck with this antenna, just have not got around to trying it yet.
I was going to do that myself. Will this work?
2 x 8dBi WiFi RP-SMA Male Antenna 2.4GHz 5.8GHz Dual Band +2 x 15CM U.FL/IPEX to RP-SMA Female Pigtail Cable for Mini PCIe Card Wireless Routers, PC Desktop, Repeater, FPV UAV Drone and PS4 Build https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07R21LN5P/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_RDopEb9HS78A9
I’ve only done preliminary testing, but looks great so far. I was gonna write the whole thing up later, but the import info is 16mm from the back, and 13mm up from the bottom (NOT including the 6mm fold out base), is about the perfect spot for the 1/4" hole, so as to leave room on the inside and not interfere with the stock internals.
So you didn’t need a extension cable? Did you look at the pack I linked? Is it even correct?
Very nice looking. What is the shroud made of?
Looks the same as what I got, only you selected the correct IPEX size. Whereas I did not, and had to order different pigtails.
But there is something to keep in mind device antennas. I’ve never worked through the math, but as I understand it, the section lengths of an antenna determine it’s inductance and capacitance, which means that while the perfect 2.4GHz quarter wave antenna might calculat out to be 31.25mm~ or thereabouts, you can use different lengths if you add a capacitor or inductor. Now with that in mind you have to look at the antenna that came off of something, because you have to assume that the device was tuned for best reception. So the stock stick on antenna is 15mm, the ones I used and you listed are 19mm. So maybe not perfect, but close enough. But it’s just something you have to consider, especially if you make your own for a device, or before you use a antenna on a router.
Yes it is correct. “U.FL/IPEX” is the internal connector size/type.
Scrap aluminum. Which is what spurred me on to do the antenna mod. Because putting any kind of metal on the case with that internal antenna made for crazy pixelation at best. But yea it’s thin aluminum that I had CNC’ed parts out of. Just cut a piece, laid the cam on it and made some marks. Then bent it in a cheap harbor freight brake.
Here’s the one I originally designed to maybe cut and bend.
What program are you using to draw these on
Sketchup. You can download any of them if you like. Well most of them anyway.
My internet provider gave a router but I choose to use my Orbi instead. I wonder if I could order a pigtail and use one of the antennae from it. Worth a try?
