Found this post from 2023 for iOS users, but may also relate to Android, but it’s not a solution to install the app pre-dating 2023.

Light bulbs wont connect to new wifi

If you can, go back to an older version of the app. Android users should be able to find an APK. iOS users need to join the beta program and then you will have access to older versions.
