Wyzecam V2 Motion Detection Issues

The latest Beta version of the app has solved the notifications issue for me.

My only remaining issue is that night-vision seems to disable all motion detection (which means there is nothing to notify). Real time feed shows motion TRACKING (green boxes) is working in night-vision, but nothing gets triggered and uploaded. I have a support case opened.

 

 

Could also easily argue that “added value” from Wyze is crippling these nice cameras

I can confirm, after testing my V2, that this problem also exists on mine. I get consistent alerts when in a well-lit room, but no alerts when in a dark room with night vision on. I hope there’s a fix for this soon.

Im having the same issues. No push notifications at all. Push notification is on and the wyze app has permission enabled. Pretty disappointing. Kind of makes the cameras useless really

I will get notifications if I set night vision to “on” not “auto”.

Whenever I set night vision to “auto” then notifications will stop whenever LED is turned on.

I tested this on my 3 V2 and got this “observation”.

I have the same problem (on iOS). Really disappointed as this functionality is critical for what I got the cameras for.

I’ve only had my Wyze cams for exactly one week today. After waiting months, I finally got my two cameras. As soon as I set them up, I liked it so much I went ahead and ordered one more, and it came in yesterday!

Now for the issue, I noticed one of my cameras stopped “Motion Detection - Notification” two days ago. So I went ahead and checked “Playback” and I can see/watch videos saved on the microSD card when ever there was motion detected.

After reading through this thread, I realized that my “night vision” is set to Auto. So I went ahead and turned it OFF. Now I’m getting motion detection notifications again. The problem is, this is only happening to one out of three cameras. :frowning: The other two cameras work fine with night vision in Auto.

I’m using the app on Android - Pixel 2; not using the beta app.

Same here, V2 camera, using the beta Android app, notifications worked fine when IR was off. As soon as night mode turned on, no notifications, even though the tracking box shows movement detection.

I’m getting notifications and uploaded clips with night mode on, but only when it is forcibly on. Night vision from the AUTO setting does not detect, upload, or notify (even though the tracking box is working).

 

 

I was having the same issue, and it seems to be working now.

Issue: Motion detection does not work with Wyze Cam v2. Firmware is 4.9.1.42.

Setup: Camera was initially setup looking through a glass window with night vision set to auto. I turned on Motion detection and set Sensitivity to Medium. It worked as expected during the day. At night, night vision turned on and I realized the camera could not see out in this mode, so I turned it off. Motion detection was still on, but this is when it stopped working. For the next couple days, no motion would trigger the Motion detection.

Fix: The next evening at dusk, I noticed that switching the camera back to night vision auto would trigger the motion detection, and that motion detection seemed to work fine in this mode. A thought occurred that maybe the Motion detection setting or baseline setup is tied to the camera mode. I turned off Motion detection while Night Vision was set to Auto. Then I turned Night Vision Off, and turned Motion detection back on. Camera is working as expected now.

 

Mine is working again now after the firmware update today.

Night vision is set to Auto. Motion detection - notifications are now working again on that one cam. Thank you!!!

After the firmware update today, motion clips are now working in night mode for me. No extra steps were needed in my case.

I didn’t have any issues connecting 3 WyzeCams with the app. My issue was a) getting push-notifications on new Android “N” phone 4gb ram, and b) sometimes it would not detect motion even if I was walking in front of it (after 5 mins cool-down). I had latest firmware, app.

BUT after signing up for “Beta” app on Android, both of the issues seem fixed. I think they should make the Beta version official now.

 

These are some nice-to-have features – not sure where I can request it:

  1. Auto-refresh thumbnail for devices every 1 hr (or some configurable interval)
  2. When viewing cloud archive: use actual thumbnail instead of generic picture
  3. When viewing SD card recording from timeline: good to have markers on timeline indicating motion
  4. How to change recording mode from SD/HD to SD card? No longer see this option in app.
  5. Is there a way to view current list of bugs/issues and status
 

(Anyway, keep up Wyze team … Beta version of the app restore my faith in you guys … i’m buying few more)

I have the same issue!

It is in the alert settings… I have the Wyzecam 2 pan/tilt

I have two cams and neither alert at all. I’ve turned the alerting on and off, adjusted the sensitivity and updated the firmware. Nothing! Does not work. #fail

I’m having the same problems. I bought two cameras and set those up on the weekend. So far no detection or notifications at all. Very frustrating!!!
