Wyze Wi-Fi Chime Sound Cooldown Option

I would like a Cooldown option for Triggers/Sound-actions on the new Universal Wi-Fi Chime that came with the Duo Cam Doorbell.

Rationales/examples for this include that when I select a trigger such as person detection or Pet and set it to chime a door closing or a bird chirping or whatever sound it is, I end up getting CONSTANT nonstop sounds for those detections. For example, if I have it on battery and stand at the doorway to talk to someone, the camera keeps starting and stopping events constantly and the sound keeps playing over and over again while I stand trying to talk at the door. It is loud and annoying and distracting, and I often have to appologise to the person I’m trying to talk to, and grab the sim card pin to pull off the doorbell and set it inside the house face down so it stops doing it so we can finish talking.

Same thing happens if my cat lays down on the porch right in front of the doorbell. I will get non-stop sounds about my cat every time it flicks it’s tail or something. Same with Packages every time ANY motion triggers and a package is on the porch…it plays Santa Clause is coming to town over and over and over again until someone gets the package.

You get the idea.

Now, I DON’T want a sound cooldown for doorbell button presses, just for other detection triggers. If we could set a cooldown as part of the trigger or action selection (which I can do on Alexa when I have Alexa do automation sounds or announcements), then I could set up a limit of something like once every 5 or 10 minutes for person, package, pet, etc and not have this problem of constant sounds.

I hope the above helps explain how/why this would be useful for you to add a cooldown feature to the WiFi chime triggers/actions on that device page.

Approved the post, make sure you vote

Well, :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:, dude, if you weren’t so garrulous and amiable, this wouldn’t be an issue. Seems like more of an interpersonal problem than a technology challenge.

Just kidding. I vote. :+1:

lol

I did hear from another user that Wyze may have made some improvements to some things related to this issue:

Maybe they are working keeping the event recording more stable/continuous so it doesn’t do so many persistent notifications.

Even so, I still think a cooldown option would be useful. I think it will become a much higher demand request when these chimes start selling separately and more people are using them for other purposes with other devices too.

@carverofchoice - (okay, I lied) lol. I am using my house chime. I had a successful transition with the controllers in place from the v2. With the transformer power, I didn’t see a need for a cool down although the battery is the primary source of power. I could be wrong and willing to make adjustments.

OK, thanks for the clarification. That makes sense.
