I have a thermostat installed, but its so close to my furnace that its constantly going on and off because the heat rises from the furnace and gives a false temp of the room. Will a sensor fix that? Can I have the sensor control the furnace itself without the actual thermostat?
1-4 sensors will HELP, but not solve your issue entirely in the way you were hoping… The reason why is that with a sensor you can average out the temperature, so the furnace change won’t be as drastic of a difference, but there is no way to set it up to ignore the thermostat reading. It must always be one of the sensors included in the control.
But if you have 1 sensor, then the thermostat only holds a 50% control over when things turn on or off. with 2 sensors, then it only holds a 33% weight on the average temperature. With 3 sensors it’s at 25% weight. 4 sensors and it’s only 20% of the control. So, now a 5-degree increase in temperature on the thermostat will only be a 1-degree increase in the house average temperature anyway and probably won’t make any difference in whether it turns on or off.
